In my area I have something called straight talk. Google them put in your zip see if its available in your area. $45 a month for unlimited everything talk, text, web. Its exclusive to walmart. They have pretty cool phones too. Oh and they are affilaited with trac phone, and they run on the verizon network.Have a plan for 30 as well with 1000 mins and texts

the best deal around if you don't care about the phone is Straight Talk or something like that at Walmart.

$35 gets you 1000 minutes 1000 texts 30mb data $45 gets you unlimited everything. its prepaid. this uses verizons network.

if you DO want cooler phones then boost mobile is the best option. $50 a month unlimited everything.

IF YOU PAY YOUR BILL ONTIME (and make sure your ON this plan) every 6 months your not late they reduce your monthly bill by $5

so $45 a month after 6 months $40 a month after a year $35 a month after 18 months. no lower than that.

so if you stick with it you get unlimited everything for $35 a month (a dollar less than I am paying actually :-) You can even activate some sprint phones (boost is sprint) with boost if your persistent :-)

those are the two best options for max bang for the buck and cheap.

wow I just checked virgin mobile and it was impressive.

$25 gets you 300 minutes a month but unlimited everything else. but remember NO N&W so every single time you use a minute it comes out of that 300 minute pool and you can use it up a lot faster than you think.

$40 gets you unlimited everything and 1200 minutes (barely enough since again NO N&W) so unless you REALLY do have good minute control your better off with straight talk.

OR if your willing to pay more now to save a TON later boost is the best bet.

http://plans.boostmobile.com/shrinkage.aspx

$35 a month is damned near impossible to beat for nationwide unlimited everything.

if you DO miss a month it does NOT reset. so if at month 3 your miss being ontime you just need to goto 7 months for the next "shrinkage" so you have 6 total months ontime. (which is very nice they could have made it reset which would suck)

once you get to $35 a month your locked in they can not change this except by you letting the account expire or them killing your account (not likely)

as for service quality its irrelevant. straight talk is verizon and boost and VGM are sprint

the networks are damned near identical and as complete as any other network. ie fully nationwide for all intents and purposes.

I use a prepaid, was with Virgin for years, had the LG Rumour til it crapped, then moved over to Rogers with a nice samsung phone. I pay $25 a month for unlimited text and free talk weekends, unlimited internet. I use a magic jack for my house phone.
I never found a plan that I really cared for, and with the prepaid if I am strapped it is not a big deal. Haven't had it happen yet, but one never knows.

I own my own business and I have been using VM $25 a month plan for about a year now. I have only ran out of minutes once! I only use my cell when I have to, I come prepared for a job and I make most calls from my home phone. Its not that hard to manage your minutes.

Get Cricket.
I have been using them for a couple years.
No complaints.
You just can not beat having unlimited minutes and unlimited text and pics.
I just got the Android Huawei phone. Unlimited everything including internet for $55 month.

I use skype and Im on my parents Att.

Before I was on their plan I had a Att go phone (before they changed it) I'd use the skype to make calls at home b/c I dont get signal there, or if I wanted to call someone other than Att and just use my Go phone to txt my friends. I think I called people on it here and there, but just for emergencys.

I guess i forgot i have Yahoo msg with the 10 dollar a year call in number. It used to be one cent a min but now it is 2. Free if someone calls me. 2 cents a min if I call out. Works pretty good takes a load off my cell. i dont care who gets the number because It dosent cost any thing and if the number goes to hell, I just get another one. I also have a Google talk number but I think I have forgot the number :smackface My son calls me most mornings on his way to work so it works great for things like that. :banana :banana :banana

Sorry for hyjacking your thread but this kinda goes together. I don't mind a 2 yr contract. I figure I'll still need a phone in 2 yrs anyway. What I'd like to do is cut my costs. I have Verizon with 3 phones on my plan. Me my wife and my wifes little sister who lives with us. None of us use the talk minutes too much we share 1000 min. Most of the people we know is verizon so a V to V call is free and N&W. We do text a lot and send pics. I also pay $10 for my VZ navigator. I also get a 17% discount from my old job. It still comes out to almost $150 a month. I don't have a home phone to cut down on costs and a cell phone is portable not like a home phone.

If I could get all the above with 3 phones for less $ I would be happy! :thumb

Know I'll sound a bit out of touch with this question, but what's N&W? Suppose I want a plan with S&E included? (South & East) Would that cost a lot more? lol Have Verizon F&F 4 users 1400 minutes. Kids text everything so they have about 10-15 min. talk time ea month. I run about 250 on mine. Don't come anywhere near the 1400 min but you can't get F&F on less than 1400 I think. Need a family plan for about $100 mo or less.

what is N&W? (probably a stupid question)

I am really leaning toward virgin mobile it does look very impressive since I don't need many minutes. I will look at boost mobile, but as of now im thinking virgin mobile will do the trick.

Thanks for the ideas guys, I would have never even thought about virgin mobile.
