Check the coverage map on their web site. Be sure you have good coverage for the area you intend to use. In this area different company's seem to have "dead spots" .

short term low minutes VM seems to be the best LONG TERM though Boost is the best by far. just 18 months and you get unlimited everything for $35 a month. you just can not beat that. BE CAREFUL about minutes. many people "judge" how many minutes they will need based on past usage but that past usage USUALLY includes N&W (night and weekends) which are "included" so if you used 200 minutes and 1800 night and weekend minutes your monthly usage is actually 2000 minutes not 200 since on VM those 1800 N&W minutes are NOT included and come out of your 300 minute pool :-) so "be careful" these plans are not designed to be your friend. they are designed to rape you and rape you as hard as they can. takes a willful frugal smart user to take advantage of them. lots of self control and time management. which is why the BM plan is nice. nothing to manage except $50 ontime for 6 months $45 ontime for 6 months $40 ontime for 6 months then $35 for life. so for $180 you get $35 for life. not bad. not bad at all. IF you have the self control to make it happen (they depend on your NOT getting to that point but sticking around to TRY.) |

^^^^^^alright thanks for the insight......when I say I barely talk on the phone, I mean I might use 30 mins a week. 96% is texting. So I think my mind might be set for VM. That boost mobile is a good deal, just for me VM should be the best. plus if something is to happen and somehow I would use over 300 mins then I could cancel and go to boost because of no contracts. Idk why i'm against phone contracts, I think its cuz I want to be able to get out without crazy charges. |

So why not go with one of those cell phone companies that specializes only in the range of unlimited text and internet for like $40 per month? They might give you 200 minutes of talk, which is good for emergencies. If all you do is text anyway, it would be perfect. The phones cost $90 on start up and then you only pay $40 per month. No contracts. Quit when you want. I'm specifically thinking Metro PCS or Boost Mobile. If these are available in your area, check your local coverage maps to make sure your work and your home fall in their "green" range. |

No Crap! I am still fighting a fake cancellation fee from T-Mobile because at the end of our contract, which I was not going to renew, I simply stopped paying them. Instead, they tried to charge me 2 months of service, that we never once used, we had gotten rid of our T-Mobile phones, plus an early contract cancellation fee.

Excellent. I'm not against VM or anything. If you had mentioned that you made up your mind previously, then I must have missed it

damn thats shitty. Certain companies just have shitty ways of doing things. for example, my mom has had directv for 10 years....yes 10 continuous years. Up until a month ago they were still using the original box. My mom saw a commercial where they were giving new people a free hd box. my mom called up asking for one and they said it would be $100. My mom threw a bitch fit and threatened to go somewhere else and they caved in and gave her the free box. That isn't the way a company SHOULD treat a loyal customer. |

I have known a few people that has had this happen to. I had Direct for 7yrs and had shitty customer service, long waiting on the phone, ect. I hate DTV with a passion!!! I have switched to Dish Network and am very happy except for the price. Out of all the channel our family only watches regularly about 25-30 channels. I wish you could pay for only the channels you want and not for the ones you don't. One thing pissed me off. I have a 4 room DVR system. each box has it's own 500 gb drive in it. I went out and bought a cheap external 1Tb drive to hook up for more recording space. They charged me a one time fee of $40 to hit enter on a keyboard to activate my USB port. That's some bull .

Just remember everybody.... Cell phone companies, Cable Companies, all such communications companies are not in it for love. They need money to continue to operate. They don't have a "product" to sell. They have a service. Like most service based organizations they have to get whatever they can get wherever they can. The executives at the top will make all kinds of rules and then change most of them if they think it will help them make a buck. Read the fine print... Dont' be stupid and don't act stupid when you are dealing with customer service. BE NICE to the other guy/gal on the other end of the phone. They know more about the rules than you. If you get on their good side they can help you in ways you have no clue about. Also ask them about their products and services They know more than you and they know first hand what kind of problems you will face. Also prepaid gets the worst customer service, They expect you to take care of yourself so know what you need to know before calling in. The websites can be mined for information but most of the best of it may be in "jargon." I know all about cell phones and dealing with customer service ;-) |

AT&T pay as you go - $1 a day only when you use it. $5 texting package. I refuse to sign up for onerous contracts. And I hate AT&T -- but they're the only one who has this right now. |

Duh. Thanks for clearing up the N&W thing & not flaming me in the process. Guess I figured most plans included "N&W" so that never occured to me. Couldn't figure what you guys were talking about. Chalk it up to a brain fart or whatever. Nerys is right, got to ck out the fine print & count your total min. usage. |
