Anyone seen these things. I first saw one for auction last month, but I'm seeing more of them pop up.

Their classified as a motorcycle (trike) and are sold as truck, van and car configurations. Top speed is 65 mph, but some have claimed getting them up to 70 mph (maybe downhill?) And some claim 110 mpg on a good day.

Complaints are that they come with dents and rust new off the lot. (I'd say as Metro owners, we already know how to deal with rust)

3 wheeled vehicle going 65mpg? that would be scary. I wonder how hard it would be to convert to 4 wheels

In the video, the guy does say you have to be careful taking corners. But it handles corners well at 45 mph.

Idk....any weight or any strong wind could flip you over. lol. I like the idea, but imo you gotta stay with either 2 or 4 wheels.

Then, there's the JL70 Scoot Coupe at 65 mpg:

Crazy. I think the 4-wheel conversion would be a good idea.

I would definitely sacrifice a few mpg's for safety.

Sir, yes sir!

They typically go for around $10K for Chinese quality. You do the math.

Really want a little truck to haul stuff around? Check your impost laws and get something like this:

By the time you pay to import it the cost is about the same. So what would you have? Questionable Chinese quality, or Japanese proven technology? Also they were available with 4wd and some were super/turbocharged. Me? I'd get a Suzuki Carry or even a Subaru truck. Also these were available as little vans (passenger and cargo) as well.

I saw one (or maybe it was a ZAP) in person when I went to the Domino's Pizza national convention when I was a GM for them. All I can say is DO NOT WANT!!!! The quality was poor-by Chinese standards and they did not look at all stable. They even had one with solar cells covering the bed on display, but all I could think of was the Reliant Robin. Sorry but the Metro is unsafe enough for my taste. This thing is just plain nuts.

I saw that Top Gear (UK) episode where the guy seemed to purposefully tip over and crash the Reliant Robin every chance he got. If they lowered the center of gravity and put the driver seat a little further back, that should solve the problem.

For the most part, my 12 mile commute is a straight away except for the on and off-ramps. My Geo always feels like it's going to tip over on the driver side (I weight about 240 lbs). The onramp at my destination is the sharpest turn and I have to slow down to about 27 mph which annoys the people behind me.

The Robin seems to have a nice cult following. Like the UK's version of the Geo.

Or they could do like the T-Rex and put the two wheels in front for stearing and use the rear to propel the vehicle. That seems much more stable.
