My buddy is on vacation in TX down by the coast. He just sent me this pic. I consider myself a redneck. I live about 15min from Indian Lake and there are 2 story trailers and other crazy stuff like this! I just had a little chuckle!

That's funny I see nothing out of the ordinary. My brother owned a place near the mouth of the Suwannee river (The Town of Suwannee) His place was old and made of block and not on stilts but all around him were homes like that. It's a flood thing. As to how they get the trailer up there here's a rental in the area http://www.homeaway.com/vacation-rental/p182820 Could be a good place for the next GeoPalooza South

Go south of Houma La. on a two lane highway next to Grand Calliou Bayou and you will see several of these types of houses. Then you will notice that they are usually built right next to shrimp processing facilities. Guess what?, the owners of the processing facilities and the owners of the boats LIVE in these houses. Know why? Because when the hurricanes come inland the owners want their property to stay dry. Since they live in trailers and work like dogs in the shrimp factories then they save their money and become millionaires in a relatively short period of time. The people in south Louisiana might speak funny and live in trailers but they are very wealthy. Don't judge a book by its cover in South Louisiana. You might get surprised. |
