I was at wendys a few hours ago and when I had lowered my window to order my window went down; however not easily. After I had left and tried to roll my window back up it had some what rotated and would not go all the way up, as if it were off track and unwilling to move. To worsen this I had just a bit later found that my door will no longer open... And wendys had no potatoes:( Can anybody tell me what to do? :hmm

The first thing to do is to take off the interior door panel, but you will have to get the door open to do that, which may or may not be any small trick in its own right. If you get the door open, There are several articles available about procedures to fix the window regulator / track situation, a couple are http://www.teamswift.net/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=17205 and http://geometroforum.com/topic/2063906/1/ .

The door not opening may be a result of a broken latch, or the latch may just be jammed. Here is how that mechanism gets replaced for a general idea of what you'll be looking at http://teamswift.net/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=39303

Well unfortunately since Dave Thomas has died your course of reaction is very very limited. From now on start opening the door to recieve your heart attack goodies. I find it amazing that where ever I go the shake machine is always out of order! Is there not anyone who knows how to repair these things or atleast put the ingredients in to get the process started? If your door will not open it sounds like the window might have hung up on the latch handle equipment. Sounds like a terrible situation you had. Next time just stay home and microwave your own. I think it was the peoples court where it was said, dont take the law into your own hands but take it to court. Look you were at Wendys, because they require you to roll down your window at the drivethru to recieve your order, it appears to me this has happened as a result of their negligence. Take it to judge Judy and receive the justice that is due you. Is this not the american way?

EDG, The shake machine is in good working order.
It hasn't been cleaned.
They are a PITA to clean and no one wants the job.
The manager of that store doesn't have the balls to tell some one to do it and he won't do it himself.

My local BK had the same issue, until a patron called corporate to complain.
"Why is it that I go to this BK and no matter what time of day or day of week, the shake machine is broken?"
This patron got a coupon book with;
12 free shakes and,
12 free whoppers and,
12 free sausage egg and cheese biscuits.
As a token of appreciation and loyalty and for bringing this to their attention.
Damn they were good.
BK corporate made some inquiries and found the franchise owner was remiss in his oversight of the operations.
They have had shakes available every time I have asked since.

I figured he might get the free whoppers and the free biscuits but I never figured he would get 12 shakes!

I figured he might get the free whoppers and the free biscuits but I never figured he would get 12 shakes!
Not in my current state of internal organization.
But this was 3 or 4 years ago, and I was really pissed that I had gone in for lunch and could not get a shake.
I started documenting the issue after my first call to corporate. The chick on the other end of the line said it was probably a fluke. I tried to let her know this was a regular thing, she blew me off.
Then when I had 2 months of data, I called them and got a fax number, and snail mail address, and email address, and sent them a long dissertation on why they should not piss of the regulars.
Then I was contacted by a representative of the corporation who had mediation powers. He wanted to know ,basically, what I was looking for.
I told him;
"I want a shake with my meal. Simple really. This restaurant is open 24/7 and they have no shake available whenever I come in. I work nights, so it is not uncommon for me to get there at midnight and want a whopper and shake."
he says;
"I will look into this and get back to you within 24 hours"
He did,
they still have shakes available (even if I can't have one, my grandson can) and I got a s#itload of free food. ( breakfast and lunch for a day, for 12 consecutive months, you knew they had to put some sort of strings on it)
In retrospect, they may have thought I was looking for a lawsuit. False advertising or some other stuff.

Sorry for the hijack.
Now back to your regularly scheduled thread.

You can access the latch mechanism from the inside if you are willing to rip your panel.
Use a pry bar to pull the panel free at the door jamb. The panel will most likely rip just near the interior handle area.(ask me how I know)
When you get enough loose to see inside well, reach around the seat belt and find the release lever, then use the tips of your finger to push the release down and open the door.
After this you can repair/replace the latch as needed and repair/replace the window regulator.
Leave the door internals open until you have everything fixed to your satisfaction.
then when you put it back together you will know it is not gonna leave you stranded again.

Wendy's fries are better, BK keeps theirs in the frier too long. Best fries are at fairs or carnivals. The kind that has the oil dripping off the fries which allows the salt to stick better.
