I woke up this morning pissing blood pretty bad. I went to the local hospital ER down the street. They did a CT scan on me and discovered a 1-2mm kidney stone that has been giving me pain for the last month or so. In an effort to kill my pain they gave me a Tardahl shot in my ass, 2 shots of Dalaudid, 650mg of Perkocet, and 6mg of Morphene. The only thing those drugs did was make me very high, but not kill my pain. From what I've been told all those drugs should have make me so pain free you could have lopped a limb and it wouldn't have bothered me, but I can feel everything just fine. I'm home now and somewhat high. I've had 4 kidney stones total in the last 2 1/2 years. I've reached the conclusion my body hates me. |

A more immense pain I have never felt. You cannot comment on this pain unless you have experienced it yourself. You have my sympathies.

Both my mom and dad have had kidney stones and my mom said her kidney stone was as painful as giving birth. My first and 2nd kidney stone I had I was doubled over in pain. The docs said my first stone was 4-5mm large. It's amazing how much pain something so small can cause. I forgot to mention earlier that I'm only 24 years old, 6'2", 230 lbs. The drugs the docs gave me could take down a horse. |

My sympathies to you. Each person reacts differently to different drugs, it appears you may fall outside "the norm". I too have issues with painkillers not killing the pain, I separated a shoulder, was given a cocktail including morphene and could have gotten more relief from a couple of advils. Tell the doctor that what you got isn't working for you they will try a different route. As for the kidney stones I have read there may be some correlation with your diet, worth some effort on your part I would think. Good Luck! |

I have had one kidney stone in my life and I never want another. Yes, there is some correlation to diet. There is also a predisposition in your anatomy. My wife gets one every 7 years. Doesn't matter what we do to help prevent it. Talk to your doctor about things you can eat and drink to help prevent kidney stones. I know one of the foods that help keep them from forming is citrus juice. That is why I drink at least 12 oz of O.J.( or grapefruit, etc) every day. Good luck, Hope you feel better soon, Don't worry about that stupid screen. |

I do so feel for you, I have had 4 over a short span and never want to encounter that again. would not even wish it on my worst enemy. If the pain meds are not doing it for you, talk to your doctor. Hope it passes fast. Take it as easy as you can. |

More water. With your history, you should just carry around a milk jug filled with water each morning & finish it by the time you go to bed. Also, quit drinking protein shakes if you do. It's just more expensive piss. Best of luck to you. That really sucks. |

I thought I had a kidney stone once. I just kept having a sharp pain in my left side, all the way up my back. I still don't know what was wrong with me. I just took a bunch of painkillers and it sort of went away. The weird thing was, that it started when I went back home (Michigan). When I came back back to Tennessee, it went away. Someone told me the pain was probably my body not being adjusted to the altitude. How accurate this is, I don't know. Best of luck, I cant imagine the pain you're going through. I passed a couple stones 9 years ago, it really was a bitch. My doc told me it was probably from the IBprofen and aspirin I was taking for my arthritis. I haven't had a pain killer in 9 years and haven't passed another kidney stone either. She said the aspirin acted like a seed and started the stones |

I grew a 9mm monster kidney stone. And I know exactly what did it. I found these vitamin C packets called E-mergen C or something clever like that. In addition to vitamin C they had a cocktail of other B-vitamins which help your body make use of vitamin C. I liked them. When I was working 10 or 12 hours days plus a four hour commute, they helped me stay sharp. I started taking more that one per day. When I started taking three per day, I got the stone, and the rest of the story involves lots of pain. The worst part of the story is that the first emergency room I was taken to sent me home with pain killers. Three days later I was in another emergency room. What did the first E room doctors think was going to happen to a 9mm stone? I sure wasn't going to pass... And if it did, I would have been arrested for illegal discharge of an unlicensed firearm. Anyways, if any of you use Emergen C packets.... do not take more than one per day. |

Thanks all. The pain has gone down. I've been told cranberries help with kidney stones, especially cranberry juice. I have an appointment with a urologist in a couple days. I may be one of those unfortunate people that is cursed to get these evil things on a regular basis. |

The cranberry juice should have an effect and take a look at apple juice for kidney stones. My stones were from too much coffee. The water in this town tastes like They gave me Endocet, the generic for Percocet. Two or three were enough. The real lingering pain was getting the bill for the scan.
