They need to put an isolator between his house and yours.
I concur but they are rather odd to be placed between shared power lines. Usually found on larger lines adjacent to Radio and TV stations.

Called Edison, they sent a guy out. He said nothing could be done. Didn't know what an isolator was. Since it was caused by the neighbor and it's not an Edison problem, it's not something they'll fix.

I was going to live with it UNTIL I turned on the TV tonight. We don't watch TV - only watch movies and then only once or twice a month. Turned TV on and the TV itself was buzzing. Not from the speakers, from the magnetics driving the display (it's a plasma). Decently loud too. Definitely can't live with that. As little as we watch, I don't want the experience diminished due to buzzing.

Went over and got the neighbor and demonstrated the noise coming from the TV. He agrees it's a problem and he's going to remove the lights this weekend and relocate them to his ranch house.

Yay.

Cannot believe how much trash those lights are generating. Never experienced that before.
Tempted to look at the signal on my digital scope .

Speaking of a UPS overcharging...I had that happen once. It was an older unit, came home one day and the UPS was beeping and really hot. Unplugged it and pulled the batteries and they were all bulged out and the cases had cracks in them. I'm just glad it didn't start a fire.

Me too. APC SmartUPS 700. Sinewave output and a battery cooker. Batts last about 3 years. Don't know what's up with APC, I've had a lot of them over the years at places I've worked, even big 8KW UPS's. All were battery cookers.

That was your mistake sadly JBD. NEVER EVER EVER tell the electric company what the source of the problem is unless its THEIR stuff causing it.

The moment you said its my neighbors light you lost. you were done. you probable had another 10 minutes of talking but you lost at minute number 1. the moment you gave them an excuse of "its that" and "that" did not belong to them there is NOTHING they were going to do.

why? cause they don't have too. :-)

NEVER give them an easy out :-) too late now.

try having the neighbor use that bulb in a socket WITHOUT the dimmer?

still got noise? bad bulb. a line conditioner on that segment might help.

Yeah, what he said ^^^^. Never tell someone how they need to fix it, or why or what they need to do. Just say what you want to accomplish. Can you get rid of that buzzing?

The source of the problem is known and the solution has already been effected. Buzzing is gone, neighbor is educated far more than he was bargaining for (complete with dwgs showing what was going on). Edison would have come to the same conclusion and I seriously doubt they would have put a 2nd pole transformer in my backyard or an onsite isolation transformer big enough for my house in my backyard and really I wouldn't want the latter anyways.
