So I need tires and found out the 155/80r12 are hard to get and more expensive. Tired of the sales clerks laughing at me when I ask them about the 12" tire size , I decided to switch to 13" tires which are cheaper and widely available. I have read that I have to use different lug nuts with the new 13 " rim, but which one is it? Gorilla part # 71117, 41117 or 40018? Can I just get these from my local Autozone or NAPA store by bringing the lug nut specs and showing it to them? Why are these lug nuts rare?

Hi metro50- According to the Gorilla Automotive Products website ( http://www.gorilla-auto.com/lug.nuts.page_06 ) you should use: 41117 Acorn Bulge Heat Treated Lug Nuts 40018 Acorn Bulge Open End Lug Nuts The lug nuts may be available locally or by special order from your parts houses. They are not generally stocked because there are few applications (such as ours) where you would need a regular inventory. Edward Edited by Fireball 89, Jan 25 2011, 01:48 PM.

Here is a how-to on the subject. I used 71117 lug nuts and I had to get them from ebay because none of my local suppliers had them. Also, lots cheaper that way. |

40118 did not have the correct angle to use on my 1990 that has 1995 geo wheels. Have to send them back to try some others. |

Can't find a reference to the number you list. Maybe 40018? Anyway, all of the gorilla nuts with taper have a 60 degree seat as do the steel wheels on all Metros from the first to the last. Gorilla makes no other angle. |

Sorry for the dyslexic number problem, it was 40018. They seem to not seat correctly like the ATV lug nuts I have been using the last 4 years that I guess have a 45 degree angle. I may give them another try before sending them back. I gave $16 for the ATV lug nuts at Rocky Mountain RV: http://www.rockymountainatvmc.com/p/43/-/171/726/-/-/136155/ |
