It is good to use Operant conditioning on your kids at a young age. :thumb

Keep them off balance with an occasional shock just for the fun of it. The options are walking or the bus? :'( :O
Good to learn early that looks aren't everything. :-/

unfortunately there is no bus option - costs too much, I have them in a Private Christian School about 15 or so miles away, would be a nice walk! that's why I need the gas saver metro!

Took the family out tonight for a joy ride to put gas in it for my first time - gas hand was on E and I put $10 in it (3.3 gal) half a tank woohoo! she rode good with the whole family in her!

Unbelievable how excited I am over a 17 year old car - that's not even a sports car - and I was looking to buy a s10!

My oldest daughter (11 next month) told my wife (last night) that she didn't want to be taken to school in it - we were walking out this morning and I asked her about it and she said "it's weird looking" (she is used to me driving a Silverado xtra cab). I told her that she will have to get used to it, cause when she can drive it is going to be hers! She had this horrified look on her face :smackface . As we got closer to school she started asking about it and I think she is over the shock of it! :D
my daughter is 11 soon to be 12 next month too and she loves these little cars  , no matter what year it is! :P ... shell get over her "awkwardness" once she sees daddy is saving a ton of money on it and shell think twice about the way it looks ^o) ;) next thing you know shell be asking for that extra money for stuff SHE wants, lol... :lol

welcome to the group, Matt...oh and what date is yr girl turning 11? mine will be on the 3rd...

Had three or four gallons left in it. It holds 11 from empty to full, empty is at least 100 miles after the needle hits "E".

Welcome !

My 12 year old daughter loves the Geo. She was sad when I got car fever and was looking at VWs. When she gets to ride in the front seat, she likes to shift for me. She's getting to know the speed ranges pretty good!

She will turn 11 on the 25th of February - my B-Day also! Both girls are liking the ride now - they don't have to squeeze into the back of an x-tra cab nissan pick-up!

I filled it up for the first time yesterday - hand was alomst on E and it took 7.7 gal. to fill her up! getting ready to make a 450 mile round trip in her - guess I'll see what she is made of! Great thing is that I get reimbursed $.51 per mile - I have to make 2 of these trips over the next few weeks - I should make enough off of these trips to match 1/3 of what I payed for the old girl! SWEET! She will (if she holds up - just trying to be "real") pay for herself before the end of the year with all of the savings!

Gigity - gigity!

When my daughter was 15 she laughed when I bought Snowball (my 90 Metro). Then when she turned 17 I bought her a magenta 93 vert. No more laughing. Then for this past Christmas I bought her a teal 93 hatchback with body kit.

It's all in the timing!

Two tanks at $3 a gallon, maybe $60 and you get $450 for two trips. Sweet. Buy another Geo with that . :lol :thumb

yep! got down here - did my second fill-up, 43.5 mpg! that was on a tank that had the 93 oct. and carb cleaner, so this next fill-up should be accurate! I know where a re vert. is setting, has been there for a couple of years, I have stopped by a couple of times and no one was there. I'll keep trying, it doesn't look like it is in awful shape - top looks good, couple of loose interior parts (from looking through glass) etc... hope to pick it up cheap!

Told my wife her name is F.E.L.B. (pronounced Felbe) stands for Fuel Efficient Little Booger. I got a good laugh out of that one!

Got my photobucket account set-up revised link!

Welcome to the forum, MattHamby :coffee
Nice looking car.
If you are hauling more than one passenger, it's really nice to have the 4dr option.
Kudos on the kids' attitudes coming around. :thumb

I really like this car! the heater blower went out the other morning, fortunately it's not been too cold here, and we are at the end of the season, I found a replacement at Advance Auto for $50, but I am trying to buy a parts vehicle and if I get it that will be the first piece I "rob" from it so cost -$50 right away! I told my wife, she said, the mpg makes up for it - I agree!

I have several things I want to do to the car to improve how much I like it, but I am in no hurry!

A short list is (these do not include repairs) not necessarily in order:

1. new stereo and speakers - thinking of installing 6x9s in rear
2. new front seats (thinking of racing seats) - seat cover for rear
3. auto headlights - unbeleavably how much I miss that from my Silverado
4. power door locks - fronts have them - they don't actuate all the time - and I would like keyless entry (convenience issue)
5. new steering wheel - don't like the thin OEM one
6. build or find a cover for rear compartment at the hatch- don't like people being able to look in and see my stuff
7. Maybe, undecided, power windows - I'll look into that after I go through a summer and see howw aggrevating it is to unroll windows from driver's seat!
8. Create better cup holders - have some ideas - found some ideas about the center consoles on the forum, don't really like those
9. Paint job

I know it sounds like a lot to put into an older vehicle, but I do plan on handing her down to my oldest when she is ready to drive, then I am going to work on another project car for my youngest - 3 years difference!
