The 96 Swift is a Geo Metro with a different trim package and only the 4 cylinder was offered in the Swift. Some of us like to "clone" our Geo Metro cars to look like a Swift. Is it an auto or 5-speed? Is the car rusty? Please see the "Buyer's Guide" posted on the main page. |

PLEASE, do as he says. If you're from the rust belt, you have to check the frame horns. All that good info is in the buyers guide. Ain't nothing wrong with a Swift. I've got one myself. |

You might be better off as a 'poor college student' either talking them down to $1200 or being more patient. $2,100 is still a lot even with gas prices inching up. Maybe for that price it has a few extras and nice things. But yes, if it rust free, runs good, it could last another 100,000 miles or more. You are looking at maybe another $200? to get it on the road in you name? Down the road the engine rebuild would be $400-$800 if you do it yourself, and you can. You don't say where you are from so we are speculating. The rust is the main issue. The '96 is the heavier of the models, compared to the 89-94 models but should have more safety features. Make sure the Check Engine Light is not on and that there is no hack wiring apparent. |
