Stuck the new battery in. It starts the car just fine and there is no more loss of settings on startup. So I will save the second one for the winter, perhaps. I put RTV in the bolt holes. ![]() Here is my current totally rigged gauge setup:

Battery, what battery. I don't see no stinking battery. How do you start that car, with wind power? Push start? Pull start? Hamster power? Gerbal power? Power ranger? Oh, I see it now, two 9v batteries in sequence with semitrical modulation frequency on the Y-band axis. |

Lots of free space. If I was running a turbo it would be great for a V-mount ![]() I also wrapped the battery with a layer of weather stripping to go between it and the frame. Edited by Tofuball, Sep 21 2011, 08:49 PM.

Also have two RX-7 aluminum spare tires. T135\70D15. I wonder what tires would fit on these rims . . . |

You may want to re-wire the headlight switch to require the keys be in the ignition to be on. Also, to save on mpg I would install an automatic climate control (like the one in my 2000 accord) ... My 2000 Accord gets slightly better mpg than my 2007 Accord and the only real difference I can see without looking into the updates under the hood of the 2007 Accord is the automatic climate control. It is also nice to set a desired temp and not need to touch the controls and it kicks the AC on and off as needed along with adjusting the heater valve as needed. |

Getting 44mpg ultra-urban, 54mpg city, 58mpg highway. Confirmed speedometer reads 5.5mph slow, but VSS reads correctly. RBC2 causes undervoltage on startup (radio stations lost) but starts the car fine. Bought two new ones and going to see how that works. I've installed the aluminum RX-7 rims (185-70-14) and replaced the stock spare with the RX-7 aluminum spare tire. They fit with NO MODIFICATIONS. I've heard that you have to enlarge the center hub, so I imagine that is for vehicles that came with 13inch wheels, not 12inch like mine. I've filled the tires to maximum (35PSI on the front and 44PSI on the rear). The taller rims mean I've got a 14.5% speed difference from stock, plus the set 5.5mph I'm already off. So if my speedometer reads 55, I'm really doing 70! I'll adjust the VSS Pulses per mile on the MPGuino and use that as my speedo till I can figure a way to fix the actual speedo. Currently my pulses per mile is at 8231. I'll reduce that by 14.5% to get 7663. Edited by Tofuball, Sep 29 2011, 09:37 PM.

Impressions of 1 trip in the city: MPG seems unaffected but we need more data to calculate this beyond being able to say "seems." Clutch engagement is definitely harder. HANDLING IS AWESOME. |

Got 70 MPG?

Be careful on taking off hard with the heavier tire/wheel combo, the clutch will not like that one bit. If you drive for any length of time the odometer is going to start getting way off. I think to correct it you will have to get a new speed gear for where the speedo cable goes into the transmission. |

And you have plenty of thread engagement using 10mm bulge lug nuts? Large rims, little studs, and minimal thread engagement sacred me. That's why, with my 14" Alloys, I went 12mm studs with 1/4 shank lug nuts.It must not get very cold in MD. I'd be curious to see how that battery performs at 5 below. Might not be so good for a Minnesotian like me. Great Project! Definitely thinking outside the box.
