I've installed the aluminum RX-7 rims (185-70-14). They fit with NO MODIFICATIONS.
And you have plenty of thread engagement using 10mm bulge lug nuts? :dunno

Large rims, little studs, and minimal thread engagement sacred me. :oshit That's why, with my 14" Alloys, I went 12mm studs with 1/4 shank lug nuts.

It must not get very cold in MD. :hmm I'd be curious to see how that battery performs at 5 below. :cold Might not be so good for a Minnesotian like me. :shake

Great Project! :thumb Definitely thinking outside the box. :cheers
The thread engagement is acceptable. Not ideal. We've got about 8 threads on each, not much less then the stockers.
I doubt the battery will start the car at 5 or below. Thats why I'm going to use two.

Thanks :) I appreciate the feedback.

Be careful on taking off hard with the heavier tire/wheel combo, the clutch will not like that one bit.

If you drive for any length of time the odometer is going to start getting way off. I think to correct it you will have to get a new speed gear for where the speedo cable goes into the transmission.
Taking off hard is bad for MPG. Do they make better clutches? :)

As far as correction, they're too tall, the speedo gear won't fix it.

I'm just going to note my current miles (90777) and correct since there.

We've got about 8 threads on each
That should work. :thumb I believe 5 is the minimum. Not sure if that's for just course thread? :hmm or fine thread like ours. :hmm I guess as long as they can hold 45ftlbs, without feeling weird, all should be good. ^o) NO Power sliding, though! :nfs :lol

As far as Speedometer/Odometer error, that's one thing we don't sweat. :coffee Both Metros have a 5mph error. We know that 50mph is really 55mph. So we drive accordingly. :drivin

Our odometer can be multiplied by 1.076 to give actually miles traveled. Your multiplier will be different. :news

I know we all like everything spot on. ^o) But let's not sweat the small stuff. :shake Trying to swap gears, change tires, adjust this, tweak that, will just result in headaches. :banghead

The mods, that you're doing, is destined for greatness! :thumb Can't wait to see what you come up with next. :popcorn

I'm checking out a 92XFI next week. Who knows? Maybe I'll catch the hyper MPG bug too? :P Nice work! :rocker

A suzuki swift flywheel and Clutch is an upgrade for these cars.

Got 70 MPG?

You can do that if you want to spend $$$, or you can go with a stock G13 flywheel for $$...

Is the stock G10 flywheel around 14lbs or am I imagining that?

FWIW, pretty sure T3 says you can lighten the G13 to 9.5lbs.

I don't know the actual weight, but it's quite a bit heavier than the G13 flywheel.

So I need to keep a lookout for a G13 flywheel. :)

Took the car out for about 200 miles yesterday. I have a bad front left wheel bearing. The front right tire is out of balance.
Highway revs vastly improved, and this new gearing really takes advantage of my higher low end torque. I'll usually cruise at 1500rpm. Handling really is nice, though if I corner hard, while braking, and hit a bump, the front outside tire will hit the bumper.

MPG is about 58MPG highway\city combined for the whole trip.

I also installed a second RBC2 and a half farad capacitor. No more undervoltage on startup. I'm pretty sure it'll start in the winter, but only one way to be sure :)

I used the capacitor as the junction for every connection, similar to the battery terminals. I made every connector a ring terminal.

For us idiots who do not speak tech head-lingo, nor understand it, Tufo could you please explain what you bought/will buy and why you needed it.

Thanks

I bought two small UPS batteries to replace my huge car battery. I also had a huge capacitor laying around so I added it to the mix because it's not heavy. :)

"Why is my belt squealing?"

The head of the alt bracket bolt snapped off for some reason.
Easy fix.

Realized the passenger side A-arm bushing is squeaking when moved. Sigh.
