Full thread engagement on nuts and bolts is 7 threads.

As for the speedometer error, take it to a shop for speedometer calibration. It is usually not very expensive.

What would they do? It's a physical cable, not electronic. I'd rather just print out a new speedometer face and glue it on. :D

Here is some info on speedometer drive gears that I lifted from Team swift: http://teamswift.net/viewtopic.php?f=34&t=29162&p=274863&hilit=+speedometer+drive+gear#p274863

Here is information on the speedometer gears so when you do a transmission swap or tire change you can swap to the correct # of teeth on the speedometer gear in the trans

Quote:
speedometer ratio (faster) 18 x 16(brown) for wheels 14" (GT,GTi)
speedometer ratio (slow) 18 x 17(white)for wheels 13" (GA,GL,GLX,GS)
speedometer ratio (slower)18 x 18 (yellow/beige) for wheels 12"

The speedometer drive plastic gear with 18 teeth is the same on all(fixed on diff.).The differents are only on speedometer driven plastic gear (smaller on which is speedo cable) 16 teeth for 14"wheels and 17 teeth for 13" wheels. If you put on car 14" wheels you must have speedometer driven gear with 16 teeth so the cord can spin faster for speedometer because with bigger wheels for one turn car cross larger way.

Hope this is useful info, a Suzuki dealership should be able to get the gears easily if you can't find one in a junkyard. They are typically pretty cheap so it isn't worth hunting around for days in a junkyard for them.

Except I have taller gearing then any of that :) XFi transmission with very tall tires! :)
I guess a custom gear would help :/

Got 70 MPG?

So I need to keep a lookout for a G13 flywheel. :)

Took the car out for about 200 miles yesterday. I have a bad front left wheel bearing. The front right tire is out of balance.
Highway revs vastly improved, and this new gearing really takes advantage of my higher low end torque. I'll usually cruise at 1500rpm. Handling really is nice, though if I corner hard, while braking, and hit a bump, the front outside tire will hit the bumper.

MPG is about 58MPG highway\city combined for the whole trip.
Here's a clutch kit like what you are looking for. It's the same as a G13 kit.

I can't find one on ebay for less than $75, so the price is good if shipping is okay.

Here's a flywheel that appears to be new:

It doesn't have a weight listed though

It should be the same weight as a stock G13 flywheel, and those are already a few pounds lighter than a G10 flywheel.

You can always ask the seller....

Turbo3 and Twincam Tweaker

ever since i've taken to hot rodding the g10 engine i have had my machine shop up the street lighten g13 flywheels for my engine builds. it has been my experience that a g10 flywheel that takes the smaller diameter clutch pack weighs in at 14.5 pounds. the g13 flywheels weigh in at 11.5 pounds and i have them lightened to 9.5 pounds, blanchard ground, and zero balanced. then i use the larger diameter clutch set for the g13.

i pay $40 for the machining, $20 for the grinding, and $40 for zero balancing, each task at a different shop to get the lowest cost. the last flywheel i did was for my turbo3 project and i tried a new method of vapor blasting that saves me the $20 grinding fee. it only works on flywheels that are in great condition. i selected one for flatness using machinists tools. it also had very few "hot spots" and a really good ring gear.

the larger clutch set never wears appreciably and the lighter mass really livens up throttle response.

Yours might be fine, but for some reason mine and a few others I observed weren't.

Inside of the crank pulley instead of outside is all I'm thinking.
do you mean like this?

Tom is a Navy Vet I met on this forum.

He had just bought a Geo (why do we always say "Geo" instead of "Metro?") and the engine had low compression and a host of other issues. Looked like the previous owner did a TON of meth and worked over the engine.

So Tom bought a new engine on ebay for $300 and some change. I've stripped the current engine to get ready to pull it. I don't have much time between when I get home from work and when the sun sets.

I'm thinking of just pulling the engine and leaving the trans in there. Do you guys normally pull both together?
