Got 70 MPG?

It's easier to pull both than to wrestle the tranny back on to the motor.

Yeah, always fun lining those things up. I've always been pretty crazy about getting them perfectly aligned the first time so the trans slides right in, but I figure either way you're right, so as a unit I shall pull it.

WHEELS:
The RX-7 wheels make this car handle and brake awesome. I now think the stock wheels\tires were a safety hazzard compared to how much better the car behaves.

Downside? Clutch wear, and a little more effort to accel.

BATTERY:
The two RBC2 batteries and the capacitor start the car reliably and quickly every time without an under-voltage (no more lost radio stations).

:thumb :+1 Too much wrestling, the other way, for me. :gamerz

I did one install plus a pull and install with just removing the crank pulley on bot the '91 and '96. I didn't want to get into removing axles at the time. Lowered the engine onto a floor jack with a pan sized piece of plywood on it to prevent denting. Keep the rope taught from above and maneuver the jack a little to align bolt holes. :-/

I pulled the engine without removing the trans and without a lift.

Tom told me I could have his old engine. My plan is to make this engine my max MPG engine.

Reminds me of the time with the Mustang engine ... but a lot lighter I am guessing ...

Yeah, we stripped that mustang engine though, it was just the short block, but still a big chunk of iron. Geo engine was the whole engine and accessories. Weighed in at 155lbs.

Got Tom's old engine completely apart. The previous owner did horrible things to this engine, it's obvious they've been in here, denting and scratching everything.

Picture time!

Tom's car is a 2000 Chevy Metro, I think. Here is his old engine out:

Well, really is not much to these engines:

This engine has a lot of issues. I think it was run very low on oil. Also, check out the crank:

Deja 'vu

Looks like the oil that should have been on the crank was on the outside of the engine, eh.
But it makes for pretty line patterns around the crank shaft. :-/

The RX-7 sold.

The block and crank are going to the machine shop tomorrow.

Next project: 1985 Celica GTS: Manual RWD 22R.

OK, I hope I'm right about this because I'm about to start cutting.

This is what I measured:
Piston dish: 5ml
Head chamber size: 32ml

What is our head gasket compressed thickness?
What is the stock piston to deck clearance?
