About a perfect fit in my opinion.

That looks AWESOME!!! I assume that is lowered as well? If so, how much?

Thanks. Not lowered, though. Just stock 91 suspension.

Truly been a pleasure since the build.

Tofu, hope this gives you a better perspective on tire size. I'm very pleased. :cheers

I have ordered a new oil pump (PN OP530) http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/raframecatalog.php?carcode=1358760&parttype=5564
And a new crankshaft w/ bearings (PN 12570) http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/raframecatalog.php?carcode=1358760&parttype=5292
for the new block. I also bought new front and rear main seals.

I already have a top end rebuild kit and the head I detailed earlier in this thread. That should be all I need to button this thing up, minus the crank gear from a 99+ 4cyl - the last part I need to assemble this thing.

My 94 does scrape sometimes on the RX-7 rims, but it is a little lowered.

Painted the rims today, and swapped the 185-60-14s onto the front. No more scraping.

Here they are during sanding, you can kind of see why I wanted to paint them . . .

Thanks, the PO painted them black, over peeling clearcoat and corrosion, and didn't sand anything.

Also, the shorter tires make a noticeable difference.

Got the block back from the machine shop. It was only honed, no bore.

That caused some scratches (that I somehow missed) to become more obvious . . . and they do catch the fingernail.
What do you think, members of GMF?

Posted Image

The fellow at the shop said it shouldn't really matter too much, he figures it would use the same amount of excess fuel that an overbore would.

Got 70 MPG?

If it were me, I would have told the machinist he shouldn't have even bothered honing it if it brought out those scratches. I would have told him to bore and then hone.

i'm with starscream. i wouldn't assemble anything until that got straightened out.

those scratches at the tops of the bores are right where you want your compression to peak.

it'll be too late to correct the problem once you start building the engine.

Ok. Then I'll have to find some new pistons. If I'm going to do that, I'm going to use high compression ones from a tracker or whatever - 3tech wont release his secret about which ones to get exactly :/

How about the ones from a 94 Samurai?

Tofu, do you have pics of your pistons and rings? I'm wondering what caused the scratches, burrs on the rings or on the pistons?

I think it's obvious what caused the scratches, crap or no oil, same thing that killed the crank. The pistons do have scratches to match.
