I just posted a question the other day about this subject and was referred to you. Loved reading all 42 pages, though much of it is jumbled (things are restated much and out of order it seems). I would absolutely love to do this to my vehicle ('91 3/5 5 door). I have a couple questions since I'm a newb to the tuning scene. The MS system, it plays well with the stock ecu? Or does it replace it? Did you go to school to learn what you know (also aimed at T3ragtop) or did you just read and read and read on your own? (That's the only reason I'm able to buy $300 cars). For a quick and easy mod on my TBI could I replace the single injector with one of those Insight ones? (Probably not huh? I'm guessing the stock single inj. is different from the stock mpfi injectors huh?) This site is fantastic , as are the members that are willing to experiment and document for the rest of us. Thank you Tofuball . Keep up the good work . Btw hope you've conquered your medical ailments.

Fascinating reading Tofu, regardless of where the project goes from here. It seems like a couple of Saturdays with a few extra hands and a plane ticket for t3ragtop to speed up the programming and you would be rollin. Nevertheless, I enjoyed being brought in on the thought process, thanks. |

We got some work done yesterday! We were hoping to get it started, but ran into some wiring problems and couldn't find the wiring diagrams that we needed, so we made less progress than we wanted to... The good news is the MS has been updated to the latest firmware and is communicating with most of the sensors in the car! |

Thanks! Sorry I'm replying to this so late. The MS replaces the stock ECU completely, you can use it on your stock TBI but you'll get much better control over fueling with insight injectors. It's a pretty involved mod as the way I did it involves removing the head and drilling holes in it . . . ![]() I learned by reading and reading and by doing and doing. I learned a lot from Ken, who developed some of the first megasquirts that would really run the stock RX-7 ignition systems. I've megasquirted a few cars already. The medical issues are MOSTLY taken care of, (heart issues likely stress related) now I'm busy with a ton of other things such as chasing a very active 2 year old around my house. My last project involved installing a mini-split HVAC system on my house, and that's saving a fortune on heating and cooling. Nick (the fellow who posted just above me) is also a busy guy, but he's inherited the project and has been slowly getting the XFi ready for Ken and I to program and tune it. |
