I've got two :P What's up with the pic in your sig, that's awesome :)

VSS signal works for MPGuino now, just have to calibrate it (Who is wrong, gauge or VSS? Maybe I'll speed past a cop and when he asks "Do you know how fast you were going?" I'll say "No, I was hoping you'd tell me.")

Got 38mpg hypermiling with a red light every 300 feet, two people in the back and a man of great stature in the passenger seat. Dropped him off and drove like a maniac home and got 41MPG. (Both readings according to MPGuino) :P

I wonder if my cam is a tooth off. Power under 2K sucks, power over 2K is awesome.

You know what I mean. ;)

I'm actually kind of impressed with how well it pulls when I need to pass someone. When I was first researching the car I had thought it would be a total dog and a chore to drive.

My metro never ceases to amaze me how much POWER it has on tap relative to its engine size etc.. its no speed/power demon but you EXPECT it to be slower and lazier than it really is.

I totally agree.
I'm willing to bet a large part of that is the lack of weight, the tiny wheels, and "decent" factory tuning.

well I have rather large wheels but yeah. Light weight car. XFI torque curve makes for a rather spritey "feeling" car even if in reality its quite slow.

when I load 3 passengers and a trailer with 400 pounds on it you REALLY notice :-) its got NOTHING but at 54mpg I don't care :-)

Actually that sounds pretty normal, IMHO. Even my '91 doesn't care much for cruising under 2K. The Wife, on the other hand, has good pick-up under 2K because she has the 'econo' cam/gear from 3Tech. :)

The G10 performance is max torque is ~3,200 rpm and the max hp is ~5,600 rpm. So I climb hills at around the shift mark quite well, and I don't expect any power until I get above 4,000 rpm.

If the power curve were straight, which it isn't, then you only have ~32 hp at 3,200 rpm? :rasp

wow. I NEVER hit 4k. never. I mean I Just don't. I go "oh crap" when I accidentally hit 3k :-) hehehe

probably the only time I hit 4k was when I hit 94mph one time just to see how fast it would go (and I think it will go a wee bit faster)

yeah, but mine's an XFi, it's supposed to be all about the low end, comon man :P

I'm also thinking that might be the source of the "flutter"

And mine is willing to go far faster then 94, and it's bone stock :P

I still need more of a decent baseline before I can MS the car (I have everything ready, just need firm figures before I can tell how much it gains (if anything!))

I am currently unable to break 50MPG, or even approach it, and this is an XFi! Comon!

And if changing the timing a tooth is necessary . . .

how do you know? rated max speed is 87mph I figured the only reason I got faster was I had taller tires.

On your style commute your not very likely to break 50mpg on E10 easily and stock. even EPA city is longer and smoother than your commute.

You should also look into a coolant heater to get your car up to temp faster.
