Got home about 2:45pm, just intime to see last 30 laps. What a finnish!! The Mullet pulled up and passed me just north
of Montgomery, Al. We ran together for about 25-30 miles, wife and I had a planned pit stop for a bit of lunch and pecan pie.
Heaton Peacon Farms we try and stop there when we are going thur. Johnny was nice to run that short distance with you.
Hope you had a safe trip home and thanks for coming down for the GOTG geathering, and thanks to all who made the long
drives. It was great fun and fellowship.

Bill

Thank you everyone. It was really good to meet you guys and I had a great time. The food was good, next time I'll bring keylime pie (made fresh at my aunt's house). I also had a good time visiting relatives in Alabama. Driving with no A/C was not pleasant, but worth it! :cheers :thumb

My Metro got 44.6 MPG @ 65 mph on the way up :drivin , 32 MPG @ 85 mph on the way down. Round trip all gas was e10 87.

I also figured out why my muffler was banging, it had no clearance with my sway bar. Now that I'm home I can adjust it with a hammer.

The Mullet pulled up and passed me just north of Montgomery, Al. We ran together for about 25-30 miles, wife and I had a planned pit stop for a bit of lunch and pecan pie.
Right after you exited we started having issues with Christine. We started overheating and had to pull off. The coolant was full so I thought it was a fluke :-/

We took off again and barely made it to the next exit. I let it cool down and I removed the upper rad hose at the T-stat and jammed a screwdriver through it to open it up. We continued on for about 30 minutes with no issues until I started climbing the mountain. The temp gauge started going up again :banghead

This time I pulled off and verified the fan was not working. So since I have a full bumper block, I had to just remove it all. Made it to Franklin, TN and staying the night here :coffee

Man you are going to sleep like a baby staying the night in Tennessee! The overheating issues are going around, I had to put a thermostat in mine yesterday.

Hey Claude, I want to thank you and your wife again for getting this off the ground and for the food, good company and the gift baskets she made. It was fun getting to chat with some of the guys, It is always nice to be able to put a face with a name. It looks like everyone is safely on their way or already home. With a little luck Johnny will get his fan situation fixed, although once he is north of Tn, he might get enough cool airflow that he won't need a fan. I'll keep my fingers crossed. In case anyone else wants the link for the 13 " chrome rings I have included it here.

"Chicks dig me and guys think I'm cool."

Having fun in Destin, FL! After stopping by Geos on the Gulf on Saturday I drove the 55 miles east to my sister's condo in Destin. It's beautiful over here!

:cold

We left TN at 4:30 AM and it was in the mid 50's when we left. The car made it all the way home at 3:00 we arrived freezing our asses off to 36 degrees with snow flurries. The temp gauge never came off the cold mark. In fact, I don't think it ever moved! We hauled ass at 75 MPH all the way home and Christine did not let us down and got us home safe and sound.

Thanks to everyone and I am glad I got to meet "yall" even though it was on limited time. This trip was a great experience for us and we had a wonderful time!

Special thanks to Claude for hosting this event and showing us around the Alabama Gulf Shores. The wife and I were very pleased with the whole trip and the time we had on the beach was awesome :thumb

Glad everyone made it home safely.

JM wasn't the only one with car troubles...

I lost my transmission just south of Montgomery. I have a feeling the TQ converter took a dump on me, no warning at all. Luckily i nursed it back home and then got it towed from Montgomery to my house.

Just rolled 200k last week. Hell, i was even bragging about how "RELIABLE" these cars (LS400) were, lol.

Until i can afford to fix that, i'll be driving a 97 Buick LeSabre (be driving by the Nursing homes picking up the blue hairs) - It has whitewalls...BALLER!

I'll have pics up later today or tomorrow!

Great meeting everyone!

Kyle
