So we have spark. We have fuel pressure from the pump but seems to be not making it to the engine. |

Have you tried testing the ignition coil or igniter? Also being a 97 model, please inspect if there is a visible oil pan gasket on the car. If so, remove it and use RTV only. The gasket will interfere with the crank signal on crank sensor. Also grab the crank pulley and check for any play or looseness. |

#2 is dying. Most likely a burned valve from the bad EGR flow. Doing a wet test or leak-down test will give the exact reason. These engines can give strange symptoms if they have bad compression. It could be completely unrelated to the running issue, but it is going to need some work. |
