Check the CFM on that compressor before you buy.

I like shopping there too, but the store is soo full of foot traffic as well as the area. I dont see many people in the check out lanes, but each isle is packed and there is just this constant parade of people. Reminds meof being in the VCU library with all the homeless people who pass through.

That compressor is barely enough to air tires, what do you want to be able to do with it? You can always bank on needing around 2 or 3x the compressor you originally thought would be good enough. And if you want to run a sand blast cabinet..... they don't make one big enough at HF!!! :)

Most or all of HF tools are mfg. in China from cheap material. If you use these tools seldomly, they're ok. But a professional mechanic shouldn't be shopping there. If you purchase an expensive machine or even an electrical tool, make sure you get the extended warranty. I see them getting returned at times.

I buy tools from there so when I really want to beat on pliers or a socket wrench, I don't feel bad while keeping my better tools nice. There are also a few gems that they offer like the 90 amp welder if you can get the 89.99 coupon. and there are some tools where its hard to mess up the quality, like window regulator handle clip remover, for example.

I 100% agree that a pro mechanic shouldn't buy all their tools there, especially if you depend on your tools for your income.

I bought some of their Pittsburg 'professional' sockets the other day (they were on sale for $10). Pretty nice sockets if I do say so myself. ;)

Now, those cheapy socket rails that drop 1/2 inch drive sockets way too easy???? Don't get me started on those!!!

My coworkers use $500 meters and cry like babies when those meters are lost, stolen or broken. Meanwhile I've used the same $15 meter for three years. If the $500 meter is made in China, why not buy a $15 meter made in China? Except for Ryobi power tools, I get all my tools there. I work as an electrician. I think Dewalt tools are overpriced junk. Ryobi is good with Nimh batteries, made third party and sold on Amazon.

When HF first sold unibits, they lasted a long time. The last few I bought broke first time I used them. Not everything they sell is made in China, though. They have USA and UK made sawzall blades.

You really have to look those thing over before you buy. Their drill bits are junk. Their pry bars bend easily. Be careful. But cheap tools do have their place that is a fact.

People I don't know or like meet my junk tools long before they see my Stainless S-K's.

HF does have some nice stuff made by US General. Inner tie rod tool for example. Like $45. Exactly like the Lisle brand one I have & paid $57 for. Exactly like the one a buddy of mine bought off the tool truck for $159. Can't tell the difference between any of them. Some of the stuff is total junk tho. Their sockets are ok as long as you only get the six point ones. Haven't had any issues with their impact sockets either. I bought a bunch of stuff there to replace a lot of nice tools that some low life, knuckle draggin' pond scum, sap sucker stole from me several years ago.

I'm actually running an Ingersol-Rand 244 impact on a 2 HP 4 Gallon compressor right now until I can get the big one wired up. It carries just enough to break lug nuts loose.
