High "hunting" idle; Idle problem

Good day, you experts! I have a nice 1.3 '96 Metro ( 130 k miles) that I really like. But it has a high (1800-2200 RPM) idle which "hunts" between those two rpms. Anyone have any ideas?? I sure would appreciate some feedback on this, it's confusing me no end!

Thanks,
"vanguard"

Vaccum hose off of something maybe. Is your check engine light on? Welcome to the forum.

Was any work recently done on the car? When did this problem start?

No, nothing obvious started the problem. This morning I will check the hoses and look for any blockage or whatever.
Thanks for the question!

Welcome to your new forum, vanguard! :coffee

Might consider just replacing the vacuum hoses. Shouldn't cost over $10 and you will know you have good hoses. One way to find a leak, which may be a gasket, is to spray the area with spray carb. cleaner and listen for a change in the engine tone. Even the PCV valve can be suspect if it sticks open. :-/

I was thinking the same thing BB. What's to your knowledge has been replaced? A bad PCV could be the culprit.
