i found a supplier for repair sleeves. people that get front and rear main crank seal leaks, in newly rebuilt engines, probably do so because they didnt address the groove cut in crank by the seal itself. this repair sleeve is .018 thick, so it is very thin and rides on the ends of the crank. silver-seal is the company that manufactures them, or at least has them readily available. has anyone ever installed them? used them? how do you address the seal groove cut in the crank?

On both my recent build, and Wife's engine refresh, I did notice some seal marks. But not a groove. Seals are holding fine.

I have used sleeves for trailer bearing seal repair. They work fantastic! These type of sleeves are used, all the time, for heavy equipment repair too. No worries on our little guys.

I'm sure the installation procedure is the same across the boards. Meaning LocTite Red, high strength, between the sleeve and repair surface. Of course, cure time is required before first fire. About a day.

A vendor link, for these G10 sleeves, would be Extremely helpful for our forum members.

As time goes by, I think we're going to be seeing more re-rebuilds of engines pushing the 400k mile mark. Sleeves will become a mandatory part.

silver-seal.com is the vendor that i found. we will see if they are in stock, but i got mine ordered. i believe that there is no thread lock used, could be wrong. 50.00 well a little under for the front and rear sleeve and the install tool...about 250 cheaper than a new crank eh....
