what is the acceptable amount of endplay in a 93 g10? i looked in the book and i couldnt find the spec. there is a noticable knock when i push the crank foreward. dial indicator says .003 is that acceptable or did i install the third bearing cap incorrectly? the thrust bearing and crank surface are in phenominal condition. thanks.

the front and rear main seals on the crank wear grooves in the crank. these grooves leak oil if not attended to. so some ingenious feller took a piece of stainless steel and rolled it to .018 thick, and now he sells them. they are the diameter of the front and rear main seal area of the crank, you press them on and voila...groove addressed. seals ride on top of the sleeve...no need to replace the crank or have it ground and an oversized seal installed.

I've used this type of product before. The one I bought was called Speedi-sleeve. Works well and last about as long as the original surface, read and follow the instructions carefully for best results. Good Luck!
