so i picked up a ring compressor from napa and was on my way home. well....all of the sudden i had no accelleration...and there was a whiring sound...I got on the dirt road and revved it up a little and then there was a friggin banshee trapped somewhere under the hood...and she was a screamin..no power no accelleration and did not like higher rpms. so has anyone ever experienced that before? my wife is gonna drive me to town and i am going to get my truck...the pistons are in my donor block, just waiting for my crank sleeves to show up and will do a swap...sure would like to know what in the heck was going on though. |

Sounds like a bearing? No power is not the Alt belt squeal. It ran so it's not the timing belt but no acceleration has a clutch, flywheel throwout bearing feel to it. How was it with the clutch in and out? (asks the non-transmission guy )

sounds like the pressure plate springs are no good. Second metro I bought had bad PP springs, no power to the wheels in any gear, clutch in or out. |

or the catalytic converter stone shifted and fell into place so that the holes in the cat do not line up with the holes in the pipes , that scream is exhaust gases , pressurized exhaust gases finding their way out through a small hole somewhere in the exhaust in front of the blockage , if you beat on the cat a wee bit with a rubber mallet you may be able to hear the innards of the cat bouncing around and they may bounce back into a free er flow condition ... until the next time . |

the rear main sleeve i ordered doesnt fit. aparantly i ordered an undersized sleeve, so crank will need to be ground, and then sleeve can be installed. i will need to take the engine apart now and go back to the everlovin machine shop.....
