I have a 1991 geo metro (no egr valve) with bad valves. Most obvious are #3 and #2 exhaust valves. Compression tests #1 cyl 185 lbs. dry 205 lbs wet with 12 percent leakdown test #2 cyl 180 lbs. dry 212 lbs. wet with 28 percent leakdown test and #3 cyl with 154 lbs. dry 162 lbs. wet with 70 percent leakdown test.
I plan on buying a head from 3 tech in the future but financially cannot do it right now.
What I need advise on is is possible to replace the bad valves with new valves and valve stem seals and lap the new valves to the seats using lapping compound. Can I get a short term valve repair on my head by lapping until I can afford a machine shop do do a proper job?
I hope someone who has first hand knowledge might give me somew imput.
Thanks for any reply
Sean

looks like you need to do the rings and hand lap the valves. check the guides also

lapping valves is fine, I had 1 really burned valve, and a new valve and hand lapping got me going again. Usually the valve seats are OK. I'd highly recommend throughly cleaning the lifters while you've got it apart.
