Hopefully the head gasket as installed will work fine....... At least I got some money back! I haven't tallied it up yet, but, including parts, fluids & one or two tools I didn't already own, I didn't spend much over $500. Plus I did it myself in 3 days.

I was just happy to contribute something to the forum. Everybody here has been amazingly helpful. Was not sure how much of a contribution I would be able to make with as many outstanding posts already covering many of the same topics. It surely amazes me that an individual can read posts on a forum and "rebuild" an engine........ or as I did earlier in the year, rebuild a front end on a 3/4 ton 4wd truck. :)

One question.... Idle is really smooth without the connector hooked up to the back of the air cleaner. With it connected, the idle varies up and down just a bit. Is there a bad sensor or something here????

Got a picture? The connector I think of is the air temp sensor and that is a good thing. It may take some driving for the ECM to change it's memory for new input. :hmm

Great Pictorial!! :thumb

Bad Bent, Here is a picture of the connector:

There is a bit of a glare from the sun. Hope this helps identify the sensor.

That's the IAT (intake air temp sensor)

Sounds good. How long does it require to program? Do I need to do any maintenance to it?

Yeah, IAT, so maybe you can clean the brass thingy on the inside of the air cleaner. I usually just wipe it off with a clean rag.

You should have 4-6 volts on the Gray wire. When cold the resistance is high and it says resistance should be 230 ohm's. If you stick a fuse in the raised slot on the fuse box you might get the OBD code 25.

I've read where it takes a few cycles (10, 20, 50??) for the ECM to get used to your driving style. Removing the battery cable for a half hour or more should erase the Random Access Memory. Or just drive it until to see if it settles down.
