so as she sits.....fully rebuilt engine......20 thou over pistons,decked head .40 thou,3tech bolts,cam&gear....
still ran like crap.did lots of part swapping,testing,adjusting.....got it running ok,still no power, smoking.leaking oil.leaky valve cover, dizzy
removed all exhaust,no smoke :rocker must be a bad cat.cut it open, its fallen apart.remove all material, weld it closed.found 3 large chunks in the muffler,
plus muffler is FULL of oil.... :hmm re-install pipes w/out muffler,no smoke :rocker but still no power :shake acts like its running out of gas.
so the wife says,''hook up your fuel pressure tester" :hmm so i do,and the fuel pressure is WAY out of spec :smackface way to low for it to run properly at wide open throttle!tested f/pressure against a firefly i bought 2 hours earlier, and the numbers were WAY off....20 psi or more difference :ermm:

next mission:install the extra tank w/good pump in the metro.the book calls for 20~30 some psi,the current metro is only 10 psi at key-on,not even 10 psi at idle, will not go over 10 psi when revved up :shit the newly bought ffly has 22 at idle,35 psi when revved up :rocker

at least the metro tank is almost empty :thumb

thats what i've been up to for the last while... :cheers

went thru the ''fuel system pressure test'' flow chart, leads to a faulty pump or faulty internal tank pump hose......
both scenarios call for tank removal....HAPPY EASTER!!

so after the first ''shakedown'' run relize it needs a few more things....order a few more parts....muffler;2 new struts for the front(might need rears as well)new t-stat,tranny filter kit, fuel pressure regulator.....i will upgrade brakes &install sway bar when i change struts,i got extras from a t-3. i must say metro brakes suck! thats what i am doing next on this car.that and maybe getting rid of the sony cassette deck.......

Yes, the brakes are marginal at best, and that's on a two door manual. Add the extra weight of a four door and an automatic transmission continuing to push the car forward while you're trying to stop it, and you've got a shaky situation indeed.

I spent two years delivering office supplies in a four door automatic, I was frightened to death the entire time.

got my new parts today, installed muffler& will enjoy the quiet ride to work in the morning.car pulls to the left, shudders when put into reverse :ermm: right caliper was not really warm,LEFT caliper was too hot to the touch.....frozen piston/slides?...... :-/ more to do.....

It seems if it leaked tons of oil, you could just be smelling all the oil in the engine bay. Doesn't necessarily mean it's leaking new oil.
