Morning y'all. What is the real deal about some of the lower priced kits available? Found several, for example- http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Re-Rings-Gaskets-Bearings-Geo-Chevy-Pontiac-1-0L-G10-_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQfitsZMakeQ3aGeoQ7cModelQ3aMetroQQhashZitem3cb375233fQQitemZ260708836159QQptZMotorsQ5fCarQ5fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories -or- http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/6-93-95-Geo-Metro-1-0L-3CYL-New-Engine-Rebuild-Kit-G10-/250529197654 I can drive there now and pick up a gasket set and rings for 80bucks- As easy as it was to get this thing apart, seems like taking the plunge may not be an issue. That money saved would cover new struts or the radiator or something. Basically- Has anyone truthfully bought these non-felpro ebay cheapies and had success? |

I personally buy my stuff from Bruce at partsdinosaur.com. He has quality at a good price. If it were me I would take the chance. These engines take a lot of abuse with the parts in them already, so why not put newer parts into it. The only downside, well maybe the parts won't last 100K. I would do it. Then again I'm cheap. |

I just completed a rebuild with e-bay parts. (including new water pump, new oil pump as part of rebuild.) Had first fire last night, and ran motor today 100 miles. Oil change today, and small amount of metal in the new oil- to be expected as it breaks in. I ran this set in a different car before this one, and lasted the entire time I had it. Sold car two years after rebuild, and was still going strong. |

I'm wondering if the quality of the parts of this kit are any good. If I decide to rebuild my G10 engine in my 94 Metro, I'd like to use this kit:![]() It's located on ebay here. |
