I have a 93 geo metro.....

1. Does the 93 Geo have a crank angle sensor? If so where is it located and is it needed to start the car?
2. What is a electronic load diode for a M/T?
3. What is a clutch switch and is it needed to start the car?
5. Map sensor, what does it look like and is it needed to start the car?

If anyone could please help, I would be so grateful!!

Thanks,
SoloCon

1. No, I believe the crank sensor started with the 96 model

2. don't know

3. There's a clutch switch above the clutch pedal. The switch has to be depressed for the engine to start.

4. The map sensor is on the left side of the firewall and attaches via a vacuum line to the TBI. There are pictures of the map sensor on this site. You can search this site or use Google.

As per #3, you can bypass it for use with cheaper remote starts and such.

No idea on #2 where did you hear of this object?

Look at the top of the pedal, you'll see the switch with 2 wires(I think its 2 wire) coming off it, I can't remember, but you either just twist them together or clip one and tape it off, if its only 1 wire then you either clip and tape it, or tie it to ground.

#2) there are Diode rectifiers placed between a generator and the invertor/load in generator sets and also between the generator and exciter. Recitifiers convert alternating current (AC), which periodically reverses direction, to direct current (DC).

The only place this could exist on a geo would be the alternator unless you are installing an electric drivetrain. The alternator is the same wether M/T or A/T and i beleive our alternators are internally recitified... :type

When I worked in an installation shop, the guy that installed them always just bridged the wires, some remote starts/security systems actually come with an alarm system activated switch, so it has to be deactivated properly to engage that switch to start the car. I never actually installed the systems myself, just helped the guy run wires when my stereo specialty installations were at a minimum.

Long story short though, you can connect the wires, which makes it act like the clutch is always engaged (as far as the sensor is concerned) and this allows the car to be started without compressing the clutch pedal. Sometimes this sensor/switch goes bad anyhow and people go through HELL figuring out why their car won't start.
