also, EGR, not normal on the '89, probably a california emissions vehicle, stupid emissions laws....

The car was from Oregon but the sticker does not specifically list California. I grew up in California, I moved to Oregon in 1980. California EPA cars always list California on the sticker.

No vacuum advance? So....did they come with an electronic controlled distributor, or was it all centrifugal advance?

Pretty sure it has computer controlled timing, my 91 has two vacuum lines and all you have to do is disconnect and plug the vacuum lines to set the timing.
