Can someone help me identify the different stock cams
I have one marked r-5 I took out 92 xfi, is this the right one or might it been switched before I got the car?
I have one marked r-6 I took out of a 96 lsi
and my friend has r-8 in his 93
can someone list which cams came in which models and years
which one did the turbo have? which one was in conv.?
just rebuilt motor and putting in car tommorrow, 5/05/11, what cam would be best for MPG

I have no idea what the castng numbers mean. Get a micrometer and do some comparative shopping with what you have. I installed the cam that the highest lift, and also the most consistant lobes of my bunch, for what it's worth.

I have an R1 and an R8 still sitting on the table. The R1 still has a '89 - '93 belt gear installed. Origin of these is unknown.

Didn't even know they had numbers on them, no idea. That could easily be just the mold number and meaningless in regard to what lobe was eventually machined into it.

Standard cams have a 40.5 mm lobe height, XFI cams have 39.5 mm and a slightly sharper point.
