i was having the issues with my metro and everyone has been awesome with helping me. i can't afford a tbi for a bit so i stuck the carburator back on and i need help on fixing the problems with this. first off i bought this metro and the guy switched it to a carburator and i called the place that put the motor in the car and all i've figured out is it's a g10 suzuki motor. this motor runs like pure crap it has to idle at 2800 rpm or it dies it sounds like a jet getting ready to take off at stop lights and is extremely embarrasing. when you turn the motor off it stays running so you have to pop the clutch to stop it from dieseling on. sometimes after it's warmed up a bit and you shut it off and go into the store and come out and try to start it it just cranks and cranks and eventually it will start. on the distributor theres 2 ports for a hose and i know you need a hose on there for the vacuum but theres none and i can't find a hose thats close to there but theres hoses all over the place hooked up in fact i've never seen so many hoses on a carburator.thanks again to everyone you helped me tremendously and when i do get a tbi i know it will run because of all you peoples help again thanks and you all rock

May I make a suggestion that you not start another thread. Stick with this one and use the Emoticon if it slows down. This is the Carb... ![]() In one thread Jittney asked a question and it was not answered. So we will go with some basics. Dieseling (run on) is when the engine will not stop when turned off. It could be heat in the engine but it is usually a timing issue. Click on; http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dieseling Since you do not have the ECM hooked up then you may have a fuel pressure problem and the fuel is still being pumped into the hot cylinder and igniting. If the fuel pump is turned off the fuel in the line should be used up until it stops. I suspect that if you drop the clutch to stop it that fuel leaks into the engine and floods it making it hard to start. - sometimes. Check your timing Click on and read: http://www.cartalk.com/content/columns/Archive/1995/May/13.html and if the person is correct you might turn the engine off before you come to a stop and brake to stop (use up a little of the extra fuel pressure). If I read that right. If you can test or change the pressure regulator that might be the issue, assuming you have a connection from the ECM to the Carb. Where as the injector shuts off (normally,) your Carb. has some pressure regulator that prevents fuel from getting past it and into the Carb. throat and intake manifold when shut off. That with timing, vacuum leak and maybe carbon built up in the combustion chambers and you have dieseling. Granted this Carb. was made for the G10 (G series, 1.0 liter capacity) then the two hoses at the bottom of the picture are probably for the vacuum advance distributor. But since your distributor appears to be electronic advance (http://geometroforum.com/topic/4250615/1/?x=40#new) you should just plug the hoses. Your first goal should be to stop the vacuum leak and 2,800 rpm. Yes, Carbs. have a lot of hoses on them and various things like the EGR, a Dash Pot, and diaphragms to meter the proper amount of fuel from idle to Wide Open Throttle. Hope that helps. |
