Go to "guides/how to".....check the pinned "TPS report".
I'm not sure if this relates to your year or not, but it might be worth looking at.

You need to look at post #34 in that thread to see the repair manual page for newer Metros. I have a '99 and the official manual for it, and it's almost identical to that page.

I'll try to walk you through it.

1) Make sure your car is fully warmed up, or unbolt the idle speed control motor, so that it isn't affecting your throttle position.(I unbolted it just enough so it was loose, but not unbolted all the way, to make reinstallation easier -Requires torx bit- . You'll have your air cleaner assembly removed before doing this.

2) (optional) I went an extra step and made sure my throttle stop adjustment screw wasn't affecting the idle either by backing it out until I could feel the throttle snapping fully closed on it's own, then I set it right there, so it makes contact right at the same time the throttle is closing on it's own. But if the yellow factory tamper-proof paint is still on the adjustment screw, I would just leave it be until you've exhausted all other possible sources of your problem.

3) Get T-taps or stick thin needles through the two rearmost wires coming out of the harness on the TPS. Hook up a voltmeter to that. Turn "ON" the ignition(but don't start the car)

4) Put your .14"(3.5mm) feeler gauge between the throttle and it's stop

5) If reading is incorrect, loosen the TPS and rotate it until you get 1 volt. Re-tighten.

Tip: You may have to combine a bunch of smaller feeler gauges to get .14"; that's pretty thick. ...I had to anyways, using the generic set I got at an auto parts store.

Also, I do believe this is what solved my low idle issue, because if voltage is above 1 volt, the ECU will think your foot is on the gas, so it will go out of idle assist mode.

Good luck!

when i put the feeler gauge between the throttle does that mean get my engine to warm up then turn the engine off and put the feeler gaugue in between throttle just so i can create some space in the mean time while im checking the voltage or it means that i have to adjust the throttle stop adjustment screw to create a .14 gap while the engine is warm?

my tps has 3 wires does this mean the two wires closest to the firewall i have to read the voltage of the two wires at the same time? or just read the voltage of one wire?

ok i was doing something wrong i was putting the filler between the isc and throttle lever screw.... ok i uncrew the throttle lever screw all the way then i screw it back so its just touching the throttle lever then i put the filler there .14 of course the engine is a 194F then i got my volt meter, engine on run without turning on i left the filler in place and i move the TPS till i hit 1.0 volts then i tighten it turn the car on and the rpms where going from 800-2000 the isc was going crazy just moving back and forth , then i mesure the volts with out the filler in place and it was reading .6 volts so what i did i move it till it read 1 volt with out the filler then i raised the rpms to 1600 with the throutle screw that way with the ac on the rpms would be at 1000 , reason why now when i turn the ac on the the isc dont raise the rpms this is killing me someone please help :banghead :banghead :banghead :banghead
