Hi all. This is a great site. Just bought a 95 metro from dealership (put gas in it and it will go for ever) yah, right. OK, now its mine. I don`t have a workshop book for it yet, any source where I could purchase one? First an oil leak on the left side of engine down behind the a/c mounting brkt. The part is round and down by the front cover and its moist with oil, any idea? Next, Is there anything special about spark plugs, wires, cap and rotor? I think the little, engine surging/bumping, will be fixed by the plugs and ..... The dealer replaced radiator and water pump (116,000 miles on car right now) still issues with the system, and I don`t think there is a thermostat in it. The rad.cap is a 6lbs. The clutch adjustment is all the way tight. But works good. Its a clean car, just making it worthy of a commuter car, 100+ miles a day. Thanks for any help. Mark PS. Its Mothers Day weekend, Just saying. Have fun. |

Welcome to the forum, Kayakit ![]() Factory Service manual on ebay or amazon. Underside of hood should be sticker showing the hoses for the TB. It's about $10 to replace the hoses (one by one) Typically the hoses get cracks, leading to leaks, leading to idle issues. No thermostat? Hmm.... well that's about a $15 part, if it's missing. Post a picture of the oil leak, please. Thanks. ![]() Congratulations on getting a gas saver ![]() |

first, welcome to the fun...I would start with a compression test to see how healthy the engine is...http://geometroforum.com/topic/2574993/1/... the post the results and everyone will chime in to help... as for the oil leak, probably a crank seal and replace the PCV valve... http://geometroforum.com/topic/3083546/1/... a tune-up on a "new to you" Metro is never a bad idea...cap, rotor, fuel filter, and my personal preference NGK plugs( always had problems with Bosch in Metros)...coolant system running properly is very important to the metro because coolant flows thru the throttle body to the coolant temp. sensor...which, if the system dose not reach temp. the computer will keep the fuel mixture running rich... |

Hey, just got done with first layer of the list of fixes. Well the thermostat was there, but the rod that the valve slides up and down on was bent and not able to perform its duties. It was jammed in the open position. The plugs were Bosch plat. I changed to AC Delco just to get new ones in place. Wires are new as is the cap and rotor. She runs like a top now. Next, I will attack the front main seal. I have to slowly get into it you know. Wife is happy because I just saved $$$$$. I`ll pay for this thing in no time. LOL Thanks guys for your help.... Mark |

Its been a busy weekend. as per the last entry I`ve done the basic basic tune up to get me to a good baseline. Its great, because everything I`ve touched needed to be replaced. She keeps running better and better. I did a compression test 180 all around. I checked rear and front brakes, rears are alittle damp around the wheel cylinder. shoes are not shot yet, I will get to them later. Don`t need brakes, right? Fronts are new and in great shape. I`m really pleased I found this car. Well, done w.ith the car this weekend, time to go to momma....... Thanks again for this great site. Mark |
