What to do with crank sensor hole in oil pump on '92 engine?

I just noticed my new Beck Arnley oil pump has a big hole under the crank pulley that my stocker did not. My oil pan will not cover this hole up and it will leak oil like crazy. I checked the part numbers again and it shows that I have the right pump. It even shows the hole in the part picture for a 92 XFi. What gives? you have the wrong pump. its for 96 and newer. the part numbers must be wrong.

Although, bad news. You now own a 1996 and after oil pump. Save it for when you upgrade to ODBII. :D

Actually, the oil pumps are fairly simple devices. I cleaned mine and put it back in service. A few screws hold on the cover. You'll probably need a hammer type impact screwdriver to get them out. There is a clip that holds in the pressure relief valve, and a couple of pipe plugs. Disassemble, clean, and put it back together. I used a very, very light application of anaerobic sealant, Loctite 515 on the flange for the cover, blue loctite on the screws, and Loctite 592 pipe sealant on the plugs. A little engine oil on the gears, once properly aligned, will get your oil pressure going right away. Proper alignment of the gears? Good luck. There are some alignment arrows. Also, use a little Loctite 515 on the crank seal.

Also, use a syringe with engine oil to squirt oil in the block where the anti-drain back valve goes prior to installing the head. This will give the oil pump a shot of prime.
