Getting ready to pull the head this weekend due to low compression in cylinder #2 (77 psi) Called a local company that is highly recommended in my area about installing new seats and guides in the head The gentleman i spoke with sounded very knowledgeable about the g10 head and was very familiar with burnt exhaust valves in them. he went on and on about his experience with them. then he mentioned something I had not come across in any forum or discussion i have read. He said he is going to shim the exhaust valve springs a little to give them extra tension because he believes that the low spring rate causes the exhaust valve to not seat properly which leads to the valves burning and becoming damaged. any thoughts to his theory? |

very possible. a shim wouldnt hurt anything anyways. |

I've never seen a bad valve seat in a G10, maybe he meant seals? those do go bad. Guides are usually OK too, but its not a bad idea to replace them while you've got it apart. |
