After doing a compression check last weekend and getting 137psi in cylinder 1, 77psi in cylinder 2,and 141 psi in cylinder 3 i decided to pull the head today to see whats going on.
after dealing with breaking about a dozen vacuum hoses, tearing a heater hose, stripping 2 head bolts, and stripping a torx bolt on the distributor i got the head off.
I proceeded to flip the head over and surprised that cylinder 2 looked nothing like i thought it would. I was suspecting large amounts of carbon with lots of chips on the exhaust valve.

Anyway here is what my combustion chambers looked like after removal

to note, the entire egr system from the head to the egr valve, and the intake are plugged solid with carbon.

Typically, our egr's are plugged. Nice pics. How far are you gonna take your head for the build?

I got as far as you and decided to pull the pistons out. Found that one of them was cracked so I rebuilt the bottom end too. You can go to my webpage to see the build sheet with a price list of what I paid if that helps (100 pics on there as well)...
