New to the form. HEY YA WHATS UP Anyways My 92 geo metro 5 speed TBI is acting up. its good for like the first 10 min of driving then it start to drive like crap. I get on the highway and it lets me go up about 55 mph I push the gas all the way down and it feels like it is slowing it down. so I have to find like a sweet spot on the gas pedal for it to drive at 55 mph. after i get off the highway I start to drive through the city and if I put in those lower gear like 123 and push the pedal down it starts to shake the vehicle. I change the clutch spark plugs and wires. but this has been doing that before and after all that and its seems like its getting worse. If you guys have any idea of what it can be please advise. my next thing I'm shooting for is changing the fuel filter and straight piping it.

Try driving it with the gas cap loose. |

Welcome to your new forum, KAOS_KILLA! Woodie has a good test, eh. As for the above, a new fuel filter would be a wise thing anyway. As for straight piping - remove the O2 sensor or loosen the catalytic converter at the exhaust manifold and see if it runs better. Might want to start replacing old hoses as the brake booster hose is known to clog up, the EVAP hoses may be clogged and if Woodie's suggestion works you will be changing some fuel hoses and vent hoses, maybe.

Tried the gas cap trick no luck but for some reason it runs a little better with a full tank of gas then a half or near empty. |

Hey everyone just want to let you know that my geo is running like a champ again. It was the fuel filter. some of the symptoms my car was having was was would not accelerate over 55. The car would run okay for the first 6 to 10 min and then run like crap. In the lower gears it would act like it wanted to stall when I press the gas pedal all the way down. On the highway my car would not go over 55 even if I press the pedal all the way down in fact it acted slower when I did that. also when I would put a full tank of gas the car drove like 10% better then before. to fix it I changed the old fuel filter out with a pro fuel filter from autozone run me like 10 bucks. hope this helps who ever is having the same problem. |

Sweet thanks for the tip and I'm glad to hear you found the problem. Those pesky fuel filters are good for keeping junk out of your engine but when they get clogged up they sure can mess things up |

hell yea. I just replaced the fuel filter on my 96. Every once in a while it would cut out on the highway. The old filter had some very dirty gas coming out of it so I'm assuming mine was shot. |
