Greetings All,

From '92 to '06 I had a tomato red '90 3/5, upgraded with all sorts of goodies like a factory tach from a convertible, front seats from an Esteem, full center console from a Firefly, and a few low buck performance upgrades. I finally sold it with 337k miles on it, when it no longer fit my needs. By then, I had replaced nearly every moving part on the car in the interests of flawless reliability.

Now I have an 1800 mile round trip commute to make every two weeks, so I picked up a rather sad '99 3/5 base model with 81k miles for $500 in North Dakota. Typically, the PO did nothing to the car, so I am beginning the process of repairing and replacing everything to make it reliable for the long distances I'll be driving. I also picked up a '92 3/5 for "free" (just like "free" kittens, it really isn't free) that I may part out or restore to service.

I am happy to see that there are such things now as this forum to share the wealth of knowledge that has accumulated on these great little cars. I formerly worked at a Suzuki only repair and modification shop, so I'm looking forward to being able to help out with my experiences with Metros and other Suzuki vehicles.

Coche Blanco,
About that commute; I work in the energy industry and have to follow the money. My home is in Colorado, and when I signed up for this latest job, transportation was provided. Inevitably, "cost cutting " reared its ugly head and I was told I was on my own. Commercial flight and rental cars were running about $550 round trip, but a Metro can do it for about $180, and 28 hours. Just for fun, I figured how far a 44 mpg Metro would travel on $15K at $4/gallon for gas. (The 15K is how much extra I would have to spend to get a used Jetta Tdi, my first choice in a perfect world.) The Metro will travel 165,000 miles, and that sealed the deal!

Well that is certainly a lot of figuring to wind up with this car. Some here claim to have impressive commutes, you sir take the cake as I don't think I've heard of anyone else with a 900 mile a week average commute :)

In Jan, I went from the coast up here, to C.S, Co. It was 2820 mile round trip. Through the huge storm we had then. It only use 57 gallons of gas. Round trip. Your gonna be real happy with your Metro.

Does your '92 kitten car have A/C? Not for me, but 2011galaxyman really wants the whole A/C system for his ride.
