My fan doesn't seem to be kicking in. I heat up a lot at a stop or red light. Is there some way to check it?

Look at the wires leading to the fan. When I looked at mine, I noticed that one had been cut. that is where I would start. Things get a little more complicated from there.

Thanx. I'll track the wiring down and see what I find. I was just wondering if this is common, or if there might be something common to check first.

There is a thermo switch located close to the distributor on the right side of it that controls the electric fan. Unplug the connector to the switch and put a jumper wire between the black/white wire and the blue wire and see if the fan comes on. If the fan comes on, replace that switch.

Could someone post a pic highlighting the radiator fan switch please?? Thanx.

ALSO check your fan itself. mine did this and the fan physically had failed (the plastic fan "gave way" at the hub connection point so the motor was fine but the fan had broken/melted and was jammed so it did not spin.

Check your fan blades etc.. for obvious damage.
check your fuses
Check your connection
Jump the wires to see if it turns on like posted before me.
Replace as necessary.

just remember. a few hours of diagnosing can save you $$$$

I see a brown "socket" just above the vacuum advance on the distributor, in this picture. Blue wire is right next to the coil wire in the picture.
