Hey everyone,

I've been wanting a Geo Metro for a while now to compensate for my big old v8 car on long trips and finally found one! I couple weeks ago I picked up a 1996 Metro i3/5-speed with 132k miles. The car is in pretty good shape physically, only door dings, never been in an accident, paint still has some shine, interior in good shape (after cleaning up the previous owners massive mess), etc. Mechanically, the car is pretty good as well. After I did a full tune up the car runs very well, only issues I have is with the EGR system. The clutch feels good, tranny shifts well, and the only noise the car makes is the exhaust rattling against the rear sway bar lol.

I bought an Ultra Gauge as per suggestions from this board, on my first long trip it said I got 48.3 mpg at its highest. I'm not sure how accurate the gauge is, but I was happy! On my second trip the gauge said 41.2 mpg, but when I topped the tank off and did the traditional gas it appears I got closer to 43.something mpg (I was driving faster on this trip).

I also took the seats out to give the interior a good cleaning. The PO didn't bother cleaning the car at all, there was sand/rocks, soda stains, and more but it all cleaned up nice. I still have to shampoo the carpet, but thats it in regards to the interior. Unfortunately I forgot to snap a pic with the seats back in, but you all know what they look like.

I've lurked on this board for a few months, I'm glad I finally got a metro and joined. Here's some pictures for your viewing pleasure, tell me what you think.

Floor midway through cleaning, there used to be sand and pebbles everywhere!

Paint the bumpers black. It'll do wonders for the looks.

I'm more toward the central coast of California, can't make that trip because I have a lot of other things going on (school, job, internship).

Metro-fiend: I like the rims too, some previous owner was nice enough to ditch the steelies and put something decent on. They have some curb rash, but they do their job just fine (and can always be repainted).

dayle1960: I do plan to do something with the bumpers. First I am going to use some detailing products on it which should revitalize it quite a bit, its worked wonders on multiple other projects I've done. If I'm not satisfied though I will probably paint them a dark grey, I think black will contrast too much (at least for my tastes) because those are some huge bumpers.

I'll definitely post some pics once I clay bar the car, use some rubbing compound, wax it, and clean up the bumpers.
