Well I bought me another 95 to play with and had to shoe it today for need of a parking brake. Had the slide hammer but did not have a attachment that would work on the rear drum. Wacked off a short section off a piece of angle iron and welded it in the center and drilled three holes and poof! a new custom made tool was born. Anyone need custom made tools for a rear brake job? :banana

Doc, I like it. :thumb Both the car and your tool. I may have to make one of those. Would be better than the "chain of the lugs", with slide hammer, method that I've used. :gamerz

i just remove the center nut and the drum slips right off. You sure the parking brake was off?

Its because I needed a parking brake that I was replacing the shoes to start with! It was metal to metal. Yes the parking brake was released, would not have mattered anyway, it did not hold. Maybe your spindle or bearings are bad. They should not be so loose, they would just slip right off. They are not real hard to get off but they do not just slip off either.

If you do weld you up one, be sure to use thin angle to give you more threads with the lug nuts.

Multiple cars, probably four different times I've taken both drums off. Worst I ever saw, I just bolted the wheel back on and tugged.

I dont know why everybody thinks that the drums and rotors should be a pain to get off, just because some come off easier than others does not mean something is wrong!!!!
