Hi,

I'm Alex from Winston Salem, NC. Way back in 1986, I bought a brand new 1986 Chevy Sprint Plus, 4door, 3 cylinder, 5 speed, hatchback. Red in color. I had that car for almost ten years and the only thing that I did to it was regularly change the oil, change the wiper blades, put several sets of new tires on it, and washed it every once in a while. I never, ever, had a mechanical issue of any kind. It ran circles around my 84 VW Jetta that I also had. And the fuel mileage was outstanding....upper 40's, maybe 52 on the highway a few times. It is by far the best car mechanically I have ever owned. If I knew then what I know now, I would have purchased another one and saved it in my basement for the present time. I've always believed that the Sprint was the predecessor of the Metro, that Chevy got Suzuki to rebadge it for Chevy until Chevy and Toyota could get the Geo plants up and running for the Geo brand. If I could find an 86 Sprint in good condition I would buy one, but I just don't see them anymore. Lots of Metros from various years and I guess when I find one of those that I like, I will purchase one. I still have the brochure from Chevy for the 86 Sprint. I occasionally look at it with fond memories, and a tear in my eye.

Great to have found this website. I hope to learn and maybe find a Metro through it.

Alex

Posted ImageWelcome aboard! I had the 2 door version of the 86 sprint, drove it for years and years. Have had some version of a Metro ever since... Here is a shot of it many years later after surviving several young drivers learning how to drive...

No need to believe in that theory, them's the facts.
