How much methanol to mix in with fuel?; Using methanol left over from distilling

I have about a gallon of 75 percent methanol left over from a few distilling projects I did in the fall.

How much of that can I dump into a full fuel tank without causing any damage to the engine or hoses?

Methanol is toxic and attacks the optic nerve, so I can't drink it. Due to it's low vapor temperature, it's the first thing that comes out of my... "water distiller".

Bill,

Restart your project, and this time make ethanol. Bring a couple of gallons to Geopalooza where we can test it as cleaning solvent . . . carburetor cleaner . . . ahhh . . . windshield washer solvent . . . tire polish, yeah! Tire polish! :beer

Well, I went through my test tank a few weeks ago. Normally, my car runs at 39 to 41 mpg with normal commuting to work. 42to 43 mpg when driving my once a month up to NJ for national guard drills and visiting my parents (now parent since my dad passed away last month)

VERDICT

Adding 1 liter of Methanol to my 10 gallon tank of E89 resulted in 37.1 mpg.

you definitely dont wanna use any sort of alcohol as tire polish unless you dont like your tires

if it was diesel you could just dump that methanol in it but its not really good in gas engines and about the worst thing they did was mix it with gasoline

if you have a wood stove save it for winter soak it up in rags and burn it for heat

Why are you using E89, (E85)?

If I had to guess, it's probably E10, 89 octane.
