Figured I'd post and say hello since I'm new to the forum. I live up in Burlington VT and currently have an 06 Subaru Impreza (A necessity up here) and am looking (on Craigslist like a hawk) to pick up a Metro for commuting to/from work when there's no snow on the ground. I had a Geo Prizm in the past so I'm not new to the Geo brand but I've never had a Metro and hopefully I will find one in the not so distant future! |

I've done a fair bit of work on subarus, had to do the head gaskets on my parent's 01 legacy last winter. Good cars overall. Metros are much easier to work on just be on the look out for rust on the lower frame in the engine bay (frame horns)

Good luck! They're very hard to find in New England unless you're willing to spend an arm and a leg. It certainly can be done (I have one, after all) but it certainly takes some diligence (I actually found mine by accident. Just needed a cheap ride and having never heard of Metros (and being female), I thought, "Hey! That hatchback is kinda cute!". I've been trying to find one for my Grandfather for ages. He settled instead on a '71 Suzuki Samurai with a Metro engine. Also, not sure if you're interested, but I stumbled across this one yesterday. http://boston.craigslist.org/nos/cto/2411996824.html Anywho, welcome aboard! |

Welcome to your new forum, ATS1211! ... the link RobotsAteMyArms posted is gone, sold or just removed. That was fast.May have to consider buying one and traveling some distance for a road trip home. Oh, and my wife and I drive in the snow all the time. She has 13" wheels with studded snow tires on her '96 and I have a nice set of 12" studded tires on my '91. Something with 13" wheels would be easier to find studded snow tires for, if you want them. I only use them on the front tires so I can practice 3-brake turns and drifting, in the winter. Good luck with your search.

Thank you all for the suggestions; given the rust problems that most car's face here in the North I may have to consider a trip down south or out west this summer.
