the hood is dented and messed up where it must have come loose at speed and opened up and broke the windshield, the latch hook metal was cracked loose and wire tied together,
There was a recall for this exact problem.

Yikes! Car sounds a little bit rough Get to work, it's mostly things you can fix yourself.

I am the one on the left.

Sounds familiar. Many of us have rescued our little sippers in similar circumstances. A lot of tender care, and your family won't be so ashamed.

Why you Mutt!

The junkyard is your friend. Seems like most of your problems are little ones. Don't know what sort of hill you were climbing, but downshifting to climb is not uncommon, nor is it that big a deal.

When you replace your hood, look for one with a couple bolts holding the hood latch, and try to avoid hoods with cracks around the latch.

My wife wouldn't ride in mine for years, finally out of necessity she did, now she loves it!

Welcome to your new forum, nwgeo! :coffee

You're lucky, I got mine with no engine, well pieces of it in the trunk. Wife was happy I had a project. She spotted a newer '96 in a snow bank and wanted it so I got it for her. Give it time. :whistle
