I am still making payments on a convertible mustang I bought new in 2006. Now I am commuting 160 miles a day, and figured i was spending 600 a month for gas, and putting *alot* of miles on the mustang (108k)

this weekend drove 8 hours to Denver to look at some geos after researching them and festivas/ aspires. First one was rough, 131k miles, no a/c, stereo, etc. spraypainted interior, the owner wanted 1700. we spent the night near arvada, then the next day a teenage wigger tried to sell me a geo with a busted unibody, (I wrote a warning, description of the kid, and link to his craigslist ad elsewhere on this site)

then after 9pm sat night, I called about another geo that was for sale, and the owner let me come look at it close til ten. He was an old pakistani that said he was a mechanic for 20 years. The car drove good and the engine was spotless, new dist cap, wires, air filter, etc

I paid him 1800 for it and drove it home the next day. the first time I figured the mileage it was at 43.

once at a travel center after driving it at 70 for a couple hours it refused to start. I figured it was vapor lock. This morning it wouldnt start at all, just kept cranking. I ordered a shop manual from ebay.

I have been researching the threads here and will report back tomorrow when I can work on the geo. thanks for everyones time they put into this forum.

Open the oil cap and watch inside while someone else cranks it over. If you don't see anything moving down in there, your timing belt broke.

Welcome to your new forum, blkpwr! :coffee

A new-to-you car should probable have a tune-up also. You know the mantras; air-fuel-spark-compression, clean the grounds and wire connections, check the fuses, yada, yada, yada.

thanks everyone I will be getting to that today. It has brand new plug wires, and it looks like a bunch else. I'm not much of a mechanic now but will become one this summer for the army.
