tdo4-o9a.

20 psi/ fueling to support 153hp at 80% fuel load. i won't know for sure where it will tune until i give it a whirl. all i can do is to follow the advice of my mentors along with proper assembly techniques, tweaks, and tricks.

you know how it goes. some engines just kick ass and others are duds no matter how careful you are with the build. if it's not right, it won't be for lack of trying on my part. :D

B-) I've got to wipe off the computer screen so I can finish looking at the rest of the new posts . . . :drool

I looked at the tdo4-09b compressor maps last night. Is that the same turbo, or is there a difference? If so your right at the limits at 21psi. I'm sure you already know that.

yep, right at the limit. that's how i ride. :D

the megasquirt has a modification which allows the controller to run a boost solenoid to control the waste gate pressure. i can set the boost limiter to anything up to the max pressure.

i won't need 21 psi to tune for 150hp. the previous owner of the turbo upgrade parts used the rig on his track car and was tuned for 130hp with 30 pound injectors and batch fire running 12 psi boost pressure. i'll probably be closer to 16-18 psi.

It will like it alot better there between 16 and 18. Your really making me think about turbo charging one of my metro's.

once you come to the dark side, you can't go back. :D

honestly, it's hard to do it cheap and do it right. there are some things that you just can't cut corners on and stay with the program.

megasquirt, wide band, boost gauge, etc. will get you to $1000 pretty quick. prepping the engine without head, induction or exhaust goodies will be around the $700 mark. that's part of the reason it takes me a year or 2 to spin a turbo3 project out. it takes me that long to save my lunch money up to buy parts. :D

You must normally eat pretty good lunches. Me , the dollar menu at McDonalds is what I can afford and if I cut back on that I'm not going to be building much of a hotrod.

lil' monster. ;)
Is there enough room between the engine and the front radiator brace to put that turbo? Looks like it extends out quite a bit further that a N/A header. Or maybe you have a ton of space in your engine bay for such luxuries us mear mortals don't have.

Wow, you are now in front of GG in the "pretty" department on engines. That is sweet, t3. :thumb :thumb :thumb

one thing is for sure, when it comes to fitting turbochargers to cars i absolutely trust jardamuth to have it right. the blue monster has a bigger turbo than the lil' black monster and it fit into it's engine bay.

i won't run the blocking tin that's on the stock cars or an a/c condenser and that'll leave plenty of room for the exhaust manifold and turbo. i'll run a long, thin air to air intercooler mounted to the front bumper support and right below the turbo.

glenn's motto, "what's in your engine" dovetails with mine which is, "what's on your engine." :D

there is one small engineering work around needed for this mounting. there's no room for even the small oil filter so it requires that a remote oil filter be used.

Dark side it is, damn addicting.. I have my 90 gt turbo probe parked for the winter haven't boosted in months. Hey I bet you already had a few moments with your na daily driver where you were tempted to try the same thing as you would with your turbo charged ones? Can't stand the driver doing 40 in a 50, and the stock metro's just not going to cut it most of the time.. Going from 210 at the wheels to 60 is causing some inner turmoil.

I am really excited about this build. In my state, the goverment has put a stop to this kind of patriotic and glorious hot rod building unless it was built in 1973 or before. I have really enjoyed these forums because of the amount of "mods" that people are doing, and this little hotrod is doing it for me. Thanks, and keep it coming! Looking forward to the smoky burnout video.

i put the accessory drive stuff together to finish up the belt drives. it's pretty much the same setup as the blue monster except for finish and the under drive pulley from mike cove's latest run done in black anodizing. he made 4 groove pulleys so the water pump and alternators pulleys from a late model metro were selected to match.

i got the under drive pulley and twincam crank gear in a care package from mike, the water pump pulley from geo glenn, the alternator and new gatorback 4040310 belt from my garage, and the alternator pulley from pick and pull.
