Hey, I was about to install the cylinder head on my 1991 geo metro 1.0 and realized that there were not any cylinder head dowel pins in the block or in the head. I don't remember if they were in there when I took it apart. Does anyone know if they came with them and do I need them? Also where can I buy them if they are suppose to be in there?

You really don't need them but they should be there. At least one. Don't have any clue we're to buy them (2), but you could try a local bone yard.

Got 70 MPG?

This motor does have them from the factory, but they aren't going to be crucial to putting the motor back together. Just be extra careful when laying the head back on top of the head gasket and block.

Hey thanks, I found the pins on this web site. gmpartsgiant.com. The part number is 30012946 if anyone else ever needs it.

This was most helpful, even for a 5 year old post. I was going to get a couple of new ones just because my old ones are pretty banged up. Your part number is right on. The only problem is not a lot of folks have them. The web site you listed have them, but they're a package of 10 and I'm not doing that. I guess I'll leave them out.

I'm going to chime in and tell you that it's a BAD idea to leave them out, but if your convinced that it's ok, by all means go ahead and do it.
You've come this far, don't cheap out now, and have to do it again. :shake

Start there, if you reeeally need them, in a pinch I can help you out.

X3 on using them. Please do not assemble without. :gamerz
They're the same as the transmission dowel pins. ^o)
Between Sphenicie, 1DcGuy, and I, we should be able to scrounge up a couple. ;)
Haven't seen Jimmy around for awhile. :hmm Worth a shot though. :type
Too bad I'm not your Secret Santa. :shake A couple would have been in the box. :cheers

That would be great if I could scrounge a couple up somewhere. The only ones I found were at gmpartsgiant.com and they were in a pack of 10 for $26, plus $17 shipping. That's right, $17 to ship. I'm just not paying that out of principle. I'll wait a few days and see if anyone responds with some. I appreciate you guys chiming in.

I searched ebay and couldn't find any. I'll try messaging bbowens and see if he'll respond. Thanks for the info.

(And yes, I screwed up the quote, but you get my drift) ;)

Last update from me. I was going to message bbowens. When I was looking him up, there was a link to his ebay store. I clicked on it and boom, there they were. Thanks for all the help, guys.

And sphenicie, I PM'd you right back.
