I just scheduled my surgery consultation to have my thyroid and tumor removed for Thursday at 8AM. Hopefully they'll schedule me for surgery next week. Being choked and not being able to breathe very well all the time sucks big time |

Good luck Abe. If all doesn't go well can I have your Supra? I promise not to let my brother flip it up on it's side like he did with mine! |

Thanks. Sorry, my Supra would have to be sold to pay bills (no life insurance policy). |

You are going to be just fine. Lots of drugs for the no so good feeling until you don't need them anymore. Breathing is not overrated. Keep us posted. |

Well this morning was interesting. After the 3rd year med student did a quick check of a few things she went into the hall to get the surgeon. With the door shut I could hear the surgeon yelling because of how pissed off she was that my testing and surgery time and such has taken so long. She was also pissed off about the fact that the tumor wasn't discovered until I had full spinal x-rays taken which showed my trachea with a nice dent in it that was closing off half of the trachea. It looks like the cause to me having 4 kidney stones in 3 years is most likely being caused by a overactive parathyroid gland (the human has 4 of them). The Parathyroid gland is responsible for creating calcium. My kidney stones are calcium. So I now need one more scan to check my parathyroid glands (atleast one of the 4 will have to be removed ASAP) on top of the blood they took from me today and the 24-hour urine collection I had done Tuesday. They are going to remove the tumor and the entire thyroid, along with atleast one of my parathyroid glands. As soon as I get the scan I will be able to schedule my surgery. FML |

Went in today and had 8 viles of blood drawn and have to do a 24 hour urine collection starting tomorrow morning. I also scheduled my parathyroid gland scan with nuclear medicine for Friday at 8:30 AM. That'll be a fun 2 hour appointment along with the awesomeness of getting up at 5:30 to get there on time (Seattle traffic blows). |

Oh Gawd, your getting cut on on the west coast? Hope your docs have insurance out the whazoo!!!Just kidding. Pre-op stuff sucks big time. More embarrasment than anything. "Please stand up and bend over, turn your head and cough". "Whadda mean my hands are cold?". "No, I've never played piano, why do you ask?". Just the general indignities that go along with getting better. Just remember when they ask you to fill up the cup, you need to ask, "From over here?". Good luck, Abe.

...Is it out yet? You know, the anticipation of the surgery is the worst part. In my "neck" of the woods, I've seen quite a few people getting their thyroids removed. Of course, I see a lot of things. I work at the hospital. ;-) You're going to be okay. God said so. |

Well, dang, Abe!! When are they "suppose" to cut on you? Hope you aren't going to the VA. They only cut off the wrong leg on 43 patients out of 500,000. That's not too bad, I guess. Make sure they cut the correct thing out of you, else you will have a great settlement waiting when you awake!! Good luck, and God bless. |
